Shervin Lainez If it were as recently as last year, I would be spending this post - hell, yesterday's post - talking about how after arriving in Chicago last Saturday, I went almost straight to Beat Kitchen to see Laura Stevenson and Field Mouse play, on account of missing the Toronto show of their tour this past Tuesday because of this little vacation. But because I've grown as a person and am no longer spending all my time and energy trying to make it to shows and write about them, I have nothing to [...]
The Dodos - Confidence From the upcoming album, Carrier, out in August. The album was written in a period deeply influenced by the unexpected death of guitarist Christopher Reimer. Embracing a more organic approach to songwriting in Reimer’s wake, the San Francisco natives’ fifth LP release will see a shift in tone and style from previous efforts. Paste Magazine

The Dodos are getting ready to release their fifth studio album, Carrier , one that singer/guitarist Meric Long notes was influenced by the unexpected passing of guitarist Chris Reimer (formerly of Women): “Chris was a huge influence on the way I think about guitar, songwriting, and music in general. Seeing how he could transform and shape sound with an electric guitar inspired me to explore more tones and use those tones to begin writing a song.” The band has shared one track off [...]

This morning, deep in the "new releases" feed on Rdio , the new single from The Dodos popped up, and frankly, we couldn't be more stoked. "Confidence", which is from the forthcoming LP Carrier , sees the San Francisco duo at possibly the most polished we've ever heard them. And, frankly, that's a good thing: The amazing songwriting remains, and the cleaned up production allows for vocals that truly emphasize Meric Long's killer pipes, as well as an instrumental breakdown that shows off their instrumental chops in a serious way. We're guessing this is the beginning [...]

Five albums in, the Dodos are ready for a change. The San Francisco duo, known for their aggressive acoustics and relentless heart-pounding percussion, have recently signed to Polyvinyl (after leaving former label Frenchkiss) and are preparing their latest, Carrier, for a late August release. Polyvinyl, home to bands as diverse as STRFKR, Japandroids, and Owen, seems to be a perfect fit for the Dodos' new, darker direction. Inspired by the death of Christopher Reimer, who toured with the band in 2011 and previously played with the band Women, the album's first single, “Confidence”, finds lead singer/guitarist [...]

It’s Saturday, so that means it’s once again time for Shorthanded Goals. Shorthanded Goals is an informal mixtape of the best sounds from the past week (or weeks) that I didn’t get a chance to cover. These tracks arrive via the Sirens of Decay inbox from bands/labels/PR folks and readers, as well as from my own exploration on Soundcloud or Bandcamp. They are all great tracks looking for a new home. These are the tracks I end up missing, so you get first dibs. Think of yourself as [...]

A few days ago The Dodos dropped a new single called Confidence. Today the band are signed to Dine Alone Records for the Canadian market. You can say it is a departure but also a tribute to Chris Reimer who passed away last year. It has that Woman influence with the guitar jangle sound. Such a brilliant song to listen. Have a listen to Confidence. Confidence is taken from the upcoming album Carrier on August 27th through Polyvinyl and Dine Alone [...]

The summer forecasts look fun and promising, as long as you look away from the lame main-feeders. Otherwise you get Jared Leto likening his band 30 Seconds to Mars as "an art project", then there is Thom Yorke joining up with Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja and Elbow's Guy Garvey in scoring a doc about avoiding UK taxes, and while Kanye West "ain't here to apologize to no motherfuckers", you can still catch him performing on tomorrow's SNL season finale. But ...

Parece que tendremos en breves un nuevo álbum de The Dodos , "Carrier" , un LP que verá la luz el 27 de agosto por Polyvinyl y que contendrá este “Confidence” , su primer adelanto.

San Francisco The Dodos are gearing up to release their new record Carrier August 28th on Polyvinyl. After the very sad death of their guitarist Christopher Reimer, a slightly more aggressive sound seems to have been introduced. The pop-aesthetic is still there, but just hiding in the shadows as a more guitar-centered sound is explored. Still a great track though, and it’s wonderful to see this band back in the limelight.
The Dodos reveal "Confidence", the first single from Carrier. The Dodos make their Polyvinyl Records debut this year. The duo of Meric Long (vocals/guitar) and Logan Kroeber (drums) recently completed their fifth studio...
From the upcoming album, Carrier , out 8/27/13.
Now warming up for the release of their fifth full-length in seven years, San Francisco duo The Dodos haven't exactly held us forever rapt over the course of their discography. Sophomore recording Visiter was a personal fave, although elsewhere they've faltered for want of a more tender term as Meric Long and Logan Kroeber have often fallen for the predictable, or worse still the plainly soporific. Though if a perfunctory peek into the inner workings of the forthcoming Carrier should be any genuine yardstick, then they've set their sights far higher than they have of late, and [...]

The Dodos 2008 album Visiter is one of my favourite albums of the last few years. That’s why I was excited to hear that the duo is releasing their next album, Carrier , in August this year. Confidence is the first offering from that album and it's a classic I tell you! Listen to it below. While you’re at it check out, Fools , my favourite song on Visiter [...]

Metade [...]

"Confidence" isn't the raucous, in-your-face jam we were hoping for as the first sample of The Dodo's fifth album, Carrier (out August 27th via Polyvinyl ), but that is not to say a great introduction. The song starts off more restrained to only to culminate in a pretty satisfying all out guitar assault with pounding drums. Throughout we get the warm vocal harmonies that have become a staple of sorts for the twosome. Listen below.

Photo by Brittney Bollay The Dodos have announced a new album, Carrier, which will be out on August 27th, and they've shared "Confidence" from that album. Carrier follows the loss of guitarist Christopher Reimer , who joined The Dodos in 2011. Singer Meric Long revealed that Reimer was a big musical influence for him, “seeing how he could transform and shape sound with an electric guitar inspired me to explore more tones and use those tones to begin writing a song.” [ Pitchfork ] [...]

In February of 2012, The Dodos ' member Christopher Reimer tragically passed away, and in the year that's followed the band have written and recorded a new album, influenced by their late guitarist. Carrier , which will be released on August 27th, will be released via Polyvinyl after the band left Frenchkiss , the label that they'd been with since their debut album Visiter in 2008. [...]
