Yeah, that's Nancy Reagan. No, this is not Photoshopped. Editor's Note: More recycling of past blog posts, gotta conserve this Christmas! How many shopping days left until Christmas? Not enough, that's for sure. The holiday season isn't about shopping anyway, it's about hanging around with people you like and, in the case of most of our families, a few people you don't like. It's about giving but it isn't about begging. And it's not about the TV commentators who are so afraid white Jesus isn't represented enough in Christmas celebrations. [...]
After another year of near-constant touring including a successful spring headlining tour of the states, a US tour with Bowling for soup, SXSW for a 6th year in a row and an east coast run with The Go-Go's, The Dollyrots are heading out again. This time the Los Angeles trio is hitting the road in [...]
All too often The Dollyrots have come to town as a headlining act - perfect for the couple dozen fans that continue to support the band with each pass through Columbus, but never really expanding their fanbase. For the first time that I can remember, The Dollyrots are pulling into Columbus with not a lot to lose but a ton to gain as they will be providing support for Bowling for Soup . Both bands are heavily endorsed by WNCI though I'm not quite sure that BFS's fans have any idea who The Dollyrots are. [...]

Bowling For Soup have announced dates for their Spring tour with The Dollyrots and Patent Pending. The tour will hit up the Wonder Bar on Saturday May 7th, Highline Ballroom on Friday May 13th and Crocodile Rock on Saturday May 14th.
The Dollyrots , who released my favorite CD of 2010 ("Sweet-and-sassy POP-punk-ROCK. "Rock Control!" was 2010?s "Volcano Girls" (Veruca Salt) minus the radio airplay and flashy MTV video.") return to Columbus on Friday night. The L.A. trio will be playing at The Summit along with locals Ranger Danger and Charlie Hustle . The band will also be stopping in at WNCI on Friday morning to chat with the morning crew. Tweet

Toad stuff? Yeah, Toad stuff! ALL the Toad stuff. Our entire back catalogue is available to win from The Vinyl Villain , as part of JC's person of the year award competition festive thingy. JC is a friend of mine and so please take the Person of the Year thing with a hefty pinch of salt. No disrespect of course, but you know what I mean. Basically, JC's way of saying that he really likes all the work that goes into Toad things was to offer to buy one of everything in the label's back catalogue and [...]

I have no interest in listening to anything by Kanye West . I'm probably missing the boat on The Black Keys . Surfer Blood , Sleigh Bells , Best Coast , The National , Arcade Fire all got cursory plays on the iPod but not enough to land them a spot on this list. I'd love to say that Superchunk made one of the most welcomed comebacks of 2010 but every time I hit the local indie record store, they were out of the CD and I never downloaded it [...]

This was a pretty good year for recorded music, in the form of albums and in digital form. Rock artists came back with a vengeance, producing strong music and worthy albums. Any number of indie bands offered up career-defining work, which makes the future look pretty healthy indeed. The big news on the digital front was, uh, the Beatles on iTunes, and in just their first week on the download service they sold about 2 million songs. Paul McCartney, now the keeper of the Beatles' flame, appeared on "Saturday Night Live" over the weekend and performed five songs [...]
Why, hello! Been off listening to so much serious-face stuff I got scared shit might freeze like dat. Music gunked with context: Matthew Herbert rerecording the Adagio from Mahler's Tenth inside a coffin ! Children's choirs worshipping jazzed-up takes on Curtis Mayfield songs ! Double-wide country collections and unearthed demos ! Plus your omnipresent , ever-involved indie rock ! Some of all of that quite good! But blessed be the cheese makers. The Hot [...]
Here's some things I listened to last week. Feel free to tell me what you listened to by leaving your list in the comment section below. The Henry Clay People Seems like an odd choice to be the opening act on the upcoming Drive-By Truckers tour but that's what they are doing for most of September and October . The Wildbirds Found their 2007 CD Golden Daze in the dollar bin at Half-Price Books, definitely worth a buck (and more!). [...]

A Little Messed Up is a step up for The Dollyrots. Music - Arts - Dollyrots - Review - Shopping

The Dollyrots will be at Skully's on Monday, August 30 along with The Cliks and Hunter Valentine. Sure, it's a Monday night, but the show starts at 8 and should be over before anybody turns into a pumpkin. I hit up a campus-area CD store last week, the day A Little Messed Up was released. The CD store owner told me that his UPS shipment hadn't come in for the day and he wasn't sure whether or not this CD would be part of [...]

[It's Friday the 13th, but here at Buzz Bands HQ we only believe in the luck of the set times:] Going somewhere this weekend? It's not obvious that I used to be one of those disaffected, law-breaking punk rockers with a mouthful of complaints and dreams of anarchistic splendor who had yet to taste the complexities of adulthood to fully understand the gravity of her convictions. And yet, I still believe this is exactly what anyone insulated by youth should do. But now those days are long past, and I fully accept that the planet revolves around multinational corporations and bad pop music. All I can do to prevent myself from being vacuumed up "Space Balls" style is [...]
