Puscifer's new EP has its moments, but doesn't completely 'quench the thirst'. Puscifer, the third band of Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle), amps up electronic and experimental elements, less fazed by 'the norm'. This is exemplified on the new seven-song EP Donkey Punch the Night EP. Two covers highlight. "Bohemian Rhapsody" meets benchmarks established by Queen's original without superseding it. Similarly, "Balls to the Wall", recorded by German metal band Accept, 'whets the palate', failing to completely 'quench the thirst.' Original "Breathe" finds Keenan's vocals...

James Maynard Keenan will return on February 19th with a new EP from Puscifer . Following the 2011 LP Conditions of My Parole , the eight-track Donkey Punch The Night contains two new songs, covers of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and Accept's "Balls To The Wall", and remixes by Big Black Delta, Sonoio, and more. Everybody's got a dark-horse band they firmly believe should be way more popular, and one of mine is the Donkeys , a San Diego act making some of the most likable folk rock I'm aware of currently.
