It's hard to believe that we fell in love with Uffie back in 2005 with her song "Pop The Glock," which only got the video treatment recently . Now, after a long while and a Pharrell-produced single, Uffie is ready to launch herself in the forefront of hipster pop. Recently, Frankmusik criticized Ke$ha for stealing Uffie's style. They do sound very similar. Anyway, click below to hear her new track. Posted in Beats, Clip, Eurobeat Tagged: back, don't, download, give, [...]

Finn Riggins - "Wake" Thursday night, Idaho indie rockers Finn Riggins join The Dont's and Total Hound at the Hemlock Tavern (9pm, $6). The band's fourth album, Vs. Wilderness , came out last week, and they really blew us away at the El Rio Fourth of July show. If you like art-pop with a touch of prog, do check them out, as their relentless touring suggests that they're on their way to the big time. [...]

Annie's dilemma is a big one. She had this album ready a year ago and it leaked prematurely. Then it never got releases, got shelved and then there was the abyss. Now, she revamped some tracks and the whole concept. Gave it the best artwork of the year (above). Then readied it up with a new single to mingle. Again, it has leaked prematurely. It must suck for her right about now. Click here for more info. Posted in Beats, Scandi Tagged: 2009, album, annie, don't, download, leak, leaked, leaks, new, rapidshare, stop

Erik Hassle has decided to go commercial. The result is this Americanized crummy video of one of his best songs. It's a great song, but does anyone get the video? I managed to pull it back around to Nicolas Cage, after his awful pinball commercials, I've found a Public Service Announcement by actors warning you about his movies. Watch out for Di Caprio, Courtney Cox and the lovely wonderful Natalie Portman. Mmm Natalie Portman.

Here's the (late) line-up for this week's Bay Area shows. A few canceled shows, a few DJ sets, and a gay music festival (no really, Homo A Go Go 2009 ). Tonight, indie pop group Casiokids with Slow Club and The Wave Pictures party at the Bottom of the Hill and the Bay Area's young jazz group, The Jazztronauts hit up Yoshi's Oakland. Tuesday, folk punk rockers (think Lawrence Arms ) Cobra Skulls and The [...]

Words by: Emily Logan Photos by: Reid Williams I love San Francisco. But I have a candid confession to make. Sometimes I get really mad at San Francisco audiences. Whether it's standing stolid before the dancy-est band that's ever come through town or talking as loud as possible while standing in the very front of the floor, I've seen them all. And maybe that's not characteristic of San Francisco per se, but it's frustrating. As the French Kicks played an incredible set at The Independent on Wednesday, the crowd gave them a meager [...]

Noise Pop's second evening steadies the pace with memorable solo performances at SF's Music Halls- Stephen Malkmus at the Great American and John Darnielle ( Mountain Goats ) at the Swedish American - but there's plenty of other great pickings. Sights and Sounds helps contribute to the longwinded philosophical debate of what it truly means to be an artist. Park Life gallery will display the fine art of those we know as musicians, namely Mark Mothersbaugh (Wes Anderson's go-to composer, and of Devo), Bianca Casady (the Coco, her sister is the Rosie) and our [...]

Not to take an overly narcissistic turn here, but today is your blogmaster's 24th birthday. As it just so happens, one of my favorite bands - I'm sure you can guess who - has a song that mentions being 24, which also happens to be the only song that immediately comes to mind that sings about being 24. So, in the spirit of turning 24, I share it with you. If anyone can think of any other songs that mention being 24, please do share. Two Gallants: "The Prodigal Son" (download) [...]
