radio head will always hold a very special place in my heart and no matter what, with the more music i listen to, its great to enjoy and stumble back to what ive already known. over the years, ive listened to terrible, interesting and meaningful radiohead covers. when one is performed, its important to me when artists have strength to forget and give into someone else's vision, show their own feeling, are open-minded and most importantly, are respectful of others creativity. theres something about the way music and melodies feel so [...]
Mocky - In The Meantime.mp3 02. The Delays - Nearer Than Heaven.mp3 03. [...]

The Dresden Dolls kind of remind me of that strange couple at the party that no one dare talk to. Mostly out of fear. Fear that they are cooler than you. Fear that they are more talented than you. And fear that they have a better (read: kinkier) sex life than you do. While I can't shed any insight into what happens behind closed doors, I can confirm that vocalist/pianist Amanda Palmer and drummer Brian Viglione have deftly crafted one of the most intriguing releases of 2006 with Yes, Virginia... Mixing equal [...]

Ahhh yes. Day #2 of Lollapalooza Preview. This is an especially good one. The same guidelines apply here as they did for the Day 1 preview. Here's a refresher in case you forgot/don't want to scroll down: -Artists are split up by the time period they're playing. -If an artist is marked with a double asterisk (**), it means the artist is great and you should make an effort to see their set. -If an artist is in BOLD, it means if you absolutely have to make a choice, then I recommend you go and see that artist. -Click on [...]
Before I start, this was absolutely nuts and just terrible . And the fact that it was one block away from my apartment isn't comforting either. But, as incredibly sad as that was, I'm not here for that. Last night was the first half of the Capitol Hill Block Party. What has been an annual event for nearly 30 years was completely new to me. Two solid days of great music on three stages. Sounded good to me. Friday's line up on the main stage went as [...]

So summer is here... As a former student, it still feels like I should be spending every day lounging outside in shorts drinking Budweiser at 10.30am... Except that when I say 10.30am, I mean 4pm... Anyway. I'm off to France for two weeks at the end of next week, so I was trying to put together a laid back (yet awesome) mixtape that I could enjoy whilst dozing in the back of the car on the long drive down. This is what I came up with, mostly with laid back music or from SXSW '06 artists... Anyway. Enjoy! [...]

The Dresden Dolls released their new album, "Yes Virginia" here in the US yesterday. It's super good. But don't take my word for it... head on over to their MySpace and stream the whole darned thing. You can also download the track Dirty Business from their website . The full album is now available for download via the iTunes Music Store . You can also pick up the CD at Amazon , or better yet, at your locally owned record store. I may write a proper review after I've [...]

Good news for face powder manufacturers - the Dresden Dolls return next month with album number two , Yes, Virginia. The bad news is Amanda Palmer claims she's grown out of the need to "over-complicate" her music, which is a shame - we were very fond of the way Dolls songs sounded like especially well-stocked junk shops, with piles of discarded bits threatening to fall over at any moment. They're keen to stress, though, that they're not Goth: "In Germany, people are more open and excited by the first impression of [...]
This goes out to my good friends Justin and Peter, two of the biggest fans of Amanda Palmer I know. A link to a post on The Lefsetz Letter showed up on my twitter feed, and it basically restored my faith in famous musicians being generally nice people. Lefsetz posted an email he was sent by Ms. Palmer which read as follows From: Amanda Palmer Subject: re-Please Drop Me my label-dropping game has become very fun. please pray for me. it's a lesson in how the future of music is working [...]
