Cricket and baseball have many similarities but just as many differences. Innings are the same, pitching in baseball is bowling in cricket. Bowling in the US is an entirely different thing, that's a ball and pin game. In cricket the field is shaped in an oval, in baseball it's a diamond. Games go on for days in cricket, but only hours in baseball. Both sports have their fans and detractors, and they are sports that invite geek-dome, people reciting arcane statistics about players that are long gone and reminiscing about all but forgotten games. Come to think of it, a [...]
The Queen Of Pop is back!!! Madonna returns to the road with her incredibly successful 'Sticky & Sweet' tour tomorrow (July 4th) and Sunday with two sold-out shows at London's O2. This is followed by a sell out date at Manchester's MEN and a 26-date trek throughout Europe, culminating with two consecutive performances in Israel. It's going to be one of the highlights of the summer and in this oppressive heat it will be both 'sticky' and 'sweet'. Last year Madonna's 'Sticky & Sweet' tour played to [...]
Today marks the Irish release date of the Duckworth Lewis Method's debut album. This is an album I've been really excited about, and I am delighted that this day has finally come. It's available in all the usual record shops, Road Records, Tower Records, HMV, all of them really. Speaking of Tower Records, the band performed a nice intimate gig to promote the album yesterday (Peter from 2uibestow was in attendance, lucky bugger) and went down a storm. The new album is also being very well received. Today's Times and Guardian in the [...]
RTE Player is actually a decent little entity. It's no BBC iPlayer, but we can't get that to work in Ireland, so it's the best we have. (Well, except Channel 4's own version). Neil Hannon's and Thomas Walsh's new band the Duckworth-Lewis Method played 'The Age of Revolution' on Saturday Night with Miriam O'Callaghan , and that can be watched online. Watch it here: http://www.rte.ie/tv/miriam/ They also played three tunes on the Radcliffe and Maconie Show on BBC Radio 1. Listen here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programme s/b00l8nfl

I cannot wait for the Duckworth Lewis Method album. It's Neil Hannon's new pet project, and is cricket influenced. Very heavily cricket influenced. Anyone who follows me on twitter will see that I've mentioned the brilliant Twenty20 World Cup a hell of a lot, so I'm loving these songs and this band. "I don't like cricket...I LOVE IT! The Duckworth Lewis Method Brings You The Greatest Cricket Album Ever..." Under the guise of The Duckworth Lewis Method , the formidable partnership of Thomas Walsh ( Duckworth ) and Neil Hannon ( Lewis ) have delivered a wonderful collection of catchy pop songs about the beautiful game of cricket. The concept, which was pitched at the start of the year, has gathered genuine pace along the way and while the songs are loosely or tightly connected to cricket, they are all dazzling [...]
