Following-up their release of the title track and video for their last EP, New Orleans-based Generationals released a new song from Trust this week. Trust available now from Park The Van Records. Generationals From: NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana, United States Generationals are just two men, Ted Joyner and Grant Widmer formerly of The Eames Era for those completists amongst the Devil's readership, who just happen to have stumbled upon the secret formula for musical perfection. They sound like yesterday, today and tomorrow. They sound like open top cars, sunny days and camp fires. They sound like hope, like destiny, like [...]
The gulf has been plagued by some tragedies in the recent past. First Katrina and now the biggest oil spill in history. Yikes. Now that I think about it, I haven't heard of very many bands coming out of the area either. I don't blame them; it must be tough to make music when you have other things on your mind. Then again, there are bands like Youth Sounds that use it as a strength.

What better for a crazy blizzard than a Mixery? For those who don't know, this is iTunes Mixery part nueve (nine). Here's how it goes: I play iTunes on shuffle -> tell you which song comes up -> provide the mp3 and a tidbit -> continue until five songs and embarrassment are complete. Again, nothing's off-limits – I don't "fix the mix". Have a look into my life… The Eames Era - "When You Were A Millionaire" [MP3] (from Hereos and Sheroes ). Have [...]

So I have a really good feeling about New Orleans music this year. I don't know much about these guys; google really wasn't helping me out much but what I do know makes me feel very good about these guys having a good future. First, they are from New Orleans, and honestly there is no greater place to be raised musically. Second, they are apparently ex- Eames Era members. We played their video for Watson On Your Side ages ago and I always felt they were the best band out of Baton [...]

These are just a few totally unrelated things I've been thinking about. For instance, this is something that's always bugged me. When you import an album into itunes, it displays it in reverse order, so if you're listening to things in your "recently added" section, you hear the record backwards. I understand that it's the nature of the process, last-in, first-out, but it's mildly disconcerting to those of us who pay close attention to albums as a whole and the order of songs, etc. I also realize it's easily remedied and that all [...]

Music should strike fire from the heart of man, and bring tears from the eyes of woman. ~ Ludwig van Beethoven ~ What is the essence of adept or good music? Is it the mere ability to catch people's attention or has it had to do with the virtuoso style of creating the songs which somehow makes it unique from other pieces? +/- I couldn't answer that. In some ways, music has its own relativity. For almost 500 posts here in Play which 6 months later [...]
There's an interesting message on the Amazon homepage at the moment from the company's CEO, pertaining to some new postage discounts they're implementing. There are a few points from the statement that I'd like to go over with you here, though, readers. If you don't mind, like... Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos wrote: I am excited to announce that we are significantly reducing the minimum purchase for Super Saver Delivery, our FREE delivery programme. Right, so this guy's actually excited about the fact that his company have amended some [...]

Heya guys! I have been officially dead for almost a week and now has completely risen from my tombstone. Ooh, I know you've missed me... and my infamous playlists. Right? No? Ok, choke me now. Moving on, just wanna impart a shout-out for summerly87 for the nod in your blog. Thanks you. Thank you. Whats your real name btw? As of your requests, Ill really try to update new songs and artists. For the meantime, here's another set of my mix ranging from different genres. I have basked in delight listening to these songs for a looonng time [...]

Well I'm back from the lost land of boards preparation & am ready to move on to my 3rd year clinical rotations. During the past month I : 1) Studied my ass off. Learned a lot. Integrated knowledge I'll need to become a competent physician. Excellent. 2) Went 6 days without going outside. Three times. Not good. 3) Went __ days without a shower. Too many times to count. I can't even say how many days for fear [...]
songs by bands whose names begin with "ea" and are under appreciated, ordered by how much i like them. under appreciatedness levels were determined by last.fm listener data and may be subjective ( the eames era are the most listened band on this list with 28,000 listeners, is that too many to qualify?). considering how strict (and random) the rules are, i think this is a really incredible mix. got any "ea" suggestions to add to it? mp3: east river pipe - all you little suckers 6,583 listeners from the gasoline age [...]

Yet another blogger releases a best of '07 list? Unfortunately, this time, it's me. Here goes: Armchair Apocrypha Andrew Bird After ...& the Mysterious Production of Eggs , my expectations were high for the whistling master and violin virtuoso Andrew Bird to produce another masterpiece. The album's more subdued sense of humor and somewhat darker instrumentation (more electric guitar!) work well with its title and theme...oh yes, the apocalypse. Every time I listen [...]

2007 was a bit chaotic in terms of new releases, I have to say. The choices of songs was overwhelming to say the least, and I was able to whittle down my "Best of" list to 100 tracks, and from these I narrowed them to the top 20. Happy New Years, y'all! 20. The Wombats - "School Uniforms" / Download A jangly, reminiscent romp through awkward adolescent fantasies and "Superbad" experiences. I wish I had an anthem like this to keep me [...]

Did anyone miss the Eames Era during their first round of blog action? If so it's not too late. Today is a great day to listen to some catchy cheerful indie pop. Watch out especially for the ba-da-da breakdowns. MP3: The Eames Era- Fake Do Gooders MP3: The Eames Era- Dear Gabby Buy: Insound Amazon

Here is this week's edition of The Sunday Shuffle. Ten tracks randomly chosen as it's always been. Not much else to say, so i'll let the songs do all the talking. The Eames Era recently released a video for the song "When You Were A Millionaire". It's been floating around for a little over a month now, but the memo just hit my inbox this week. It's one of my favorite tracks from their Heroes and Sheroes , so I thought I might as well share it. MP3 : The Eames Era - "When You Were A Millionaire" [...]
