A few interesting pieces of news floating around today. Check it: De Novo Dahl have apparently left Nashville's Theory 8 Records to sign with... wait for it... Roadrunner Records. Awesome. Now we might finally get that De Novo Dahl / Cradle of Filth / DragonForce tour we've all been hoping for. Oh, and the band's new album is being produced by Dave Fridmann. Ach, Ashlin Phillips – neben Dir möchte ich immer aufwachen. mp3: The Eames Era / Dear Gabby mp3: The Eames Era / All [...]

* Both Hands Full * Last [...]
Here's a new dose of those good melodies for you. 11 artists, even more songs. Enjoy! Singer and multi-instrumentalist Rob Crow is the frontman of Pinback (and a bunch of other projects), and here's a song from his new solo album "Living well": Rob Crow - I hate you, Rob Crow - from Insound PHOTO: the bird & the bee The Bird & the Bee is a colaboration between Inara George and Greg Kurstin,

A few random pop songs for a cold Sunday evening... When You Were a Millionaire - The Eames Era If you've been reading here for any length of time, you know how much I love the girl singer over 60s-influenced twee-pop. The Eames Era do it pretty well. Good stuff... She's Got a Way With Men - Johan Speaking of things I love, how about European guitar-pop? Johan remind me of a number of bands who liked the Ramones [...]

The ever-vigilant Morten at Hits in the Car has discovered The Eames Era have revamped their website and stocked it with mp3s from their soon-to-be-released album Heroes and Sheroes . Since just last week he kindly acknowledged my earlier posting of The Eames Era , I'm going to go ahead and post all three of the Heroes and Sheroes mp3s. The Eames Era website has received a "facelift" and the occasion is the release of the band's second album Heroes and Sheroes . Three tracks from the forthcoming album (the exact release date has yet to be announced) are generously available as free downloads. + Both Hands Full + Last To Know + When You were a Millionaire
It seems that at any given time, there'll be one or two television shows on the air that become well known for their outstanding soundtrack picks. Depending on your tastes, this trend probably started either with the fantastic proto- Wire detective series Homicide: Life on the Street , or the show that gave us way too much Paula Cole for any sane human being to take, Dawson's Creek . Then there was The O.C. , following in the footsteps of Homicide by offering viewers a gritty look into the drug ghettos of Southern California [...]

Link [...]
has been updated, so this morning I've been busy listening to several artists/tracks tagged as " indie pop ". Below some of the better or perhaps more interesting ones that (until this morning) were completely unknown to me: + The Eames Era - Could Be Anything & Listen for the Sun It's probably a huge mistake that I haven't checked out this band before. Especially since Powerpopulist had a nice [...]

Why exactly they chose to honor themselves after the iconic designcouple Ray & Charles Eames I don't know. Well, at least their music points towards the 50's, and they play this irrestistible girl-fronted indie-pop with an edge. The music is indie-twee pop ...yeah, well it's sugarcoated alright, but catchy and innoncent as a college school girl and maybe as naughty. Their style reminds me of The Pipettes , Tilly & The Wall and that of Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley . It's girl-fronted pop and doesn't harm a bug, but leaves you happy [...]
I first heard about The Eames Era when they performed on one of WOXY's Lounge Act sets back in March. For those not familiar, they are a five-piece out of Baton Rouge and released their debut LP Double Dutch in 2005. Imagine Tilly and the Wall fronted by Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley and you have the right idea of where i'm going with this. It's like a perfect union of two powerhouses of pop as they have glowing similarities to [...]
Reviews of The Eames Era 's 2005 debut Double Dutch and early words about their 2007 follow-up Heroes And Sheroes have mentioned their vocalist, Ashlin Phillips, in the same breath as Jenny Lewis and members of Tilly And The Wall-perhaps because her voice is downright sugary. (There's also a touch of Neko Case here, not to mention Corin Tucker's inflection-pre- Woods Sleater-Kinney, at least-which is omnipresent.) Comparisons aside, though, Ms. Phillips is a competent vocalist in her own right, and her band (which leans a bit more heavily on country rock [...]
The Eames Era are nearing completion of their newest album, Heroes and Sheroes (cute, huh?). Until it's in stores, we'll just have to enjoy the two teaser MP3s on their myspace. MP3: The Eames Era - Millionaire MP3: The Eames Era - Dear Gabby When listening to the Eames Era, I always get ...
'Großartig! Bravo, Jungs!' (Rolling Stone).

Baton Rouge, LA The Eames Era is an up-tempo pop quintet from Baton Rouge. Their rhythms are lively and, although the lyrics are simple, the songs are never boring. The vocals of lead singer Ashlin Phillips have drawn numerous comparisons to those of Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley . The Eames Era released their debut record, Double Dutch , last year on C Student Records . "Listen For The Sun" [...]
