the earlies - i must have been blind (mp3) the boats - sarah alice (mp3) sifting through the beef blog archives i noticed scholes' two home town sounds posts and i thought i'd chip in (i know, not like me to share an opinion). i was all ready to pick some slightly more pastoral gems from my adopted home town of the last six years but then thought sod it; i'll leave the 'manchester musical heritage (tm)' rant for another post and see what treasures i [...]

United Kingdom Half the guys in The Earlies are from Manchester and the other half are from Texas. How diverse! The Enemy Chorus is available through Secretly Canadian . "Bas Is As Bad Does" The Earlies on MySpace

Pet Peeves I Don't Have, Not Really by Rachael Bedard It's hard enough to come down hard on the vast majority of wrongs that need writing without finding yourself lost in bed with your computer's pathetically small battery all day. Here now everything other people need to stop complaining about. Bottled water : It's here. Paying for water=not a big deal. Don't you feel like people still whine about this? Water is a precious resource. Starbucks : You aren't allowed to [...]
The Earlies offer quirky prog-influenced art rock, incorporating electronic elements into their weirdly creative arrangements. Their debut album didn't make much of an impression on me, but this one leapt right out and caught my attention. From the 2007 release...
I'm sure all of you are used me taking these extended breaks, so nothing more that I can do but apologize for it. The past week and a half i've been completely distracted with a little computer game that was released , so all my time has been sucked dry by it. With so much time away from the blog, I hope this week's edition of The Daily Graboid will make up for it somewhat. It should because this is the first major week of releases, and my goodness there were plenty of releases [...]

1. Loney, Dear - Sinister In a State of Hope - Yep, I saved this song for this very occasion. IMO, it's the most beautiful on the album and fittingly, the closer. There are few things I appreciate more than a fantastic bookend to a fantastic album. Word. [from Loney, Noir | info ] 2. The Earlies - No Love in Your Heart - My brothafromanothamotha Indie Jake turned me on this. Nay, forced! But for good reason. Right now I can see him rocking out to [...]

Just because your debut album didn't make it to the top of the charts doesn't always mean that you're doomed to a career of being largely ignored and playing indie toilet venues. I mean, look at the likes of Travis and Snow Patrol. They slogged around in the foothills for a while before someone took notice of them. Now I'm not wishing that the two bands featured in this post follow the path of the above outfits into mainstream blandness, but I am hoping that this year, they can build on the critical success of their first albums, and attract [...]

The Earlies have announced the details for their sophomore album, The Enemy Chorus . They'll be releasing it on January 23rd through Secretly Canadian . Noted as darker and a little, well, "sadder," you can download a new song with a fitting name below. Tracklist: 1. No Love in Your Heart 2. Burn the Liars 3. Enemy Chorus 4. The Ground We [...]

After fully enjoying the debut 2005 release, "These Were The Earlies", I was more than ready to hear something new from the band. From what I understand, The Earlies are still split in half geography wise, with half the band residing in Texas and the other half across the pond in Northern England. This of course, was the factoid about the band in 05 as well. The new single, "No Love in Your Heart" is an extension and dare I say a maturation for the band. At least from what [...]
The Earlies have a new release on Secretly Canadian entitled The Enemy Chorus coming out in January '07. Early buzz is already going hot and heavy in the blogosphere. This will be their second full-length and I've been digging on it since I received it this week. It's prog heavy, krautrock influenced, which is not normally my style, but this one is hitting all the right notes...The Earlies MySpace . The [...]

For a band named The Earlies , they've certainly kept their fans waiting a long time for their new album. I'm one of these fans. I loved their debut long-player These Were The Earlies , a wonderful concoction of country, psychedelic rock, and even dub. It was my favourite album of 2004. And ever since then I've been eager to hear what they're going to do next. Not even the trickle of beautifully designed and packaged 7 and 12 inches of songs from the album really satisfied the urge for more. But it looks like the [...]

As always, a combination of new and old to help smooth out the bumps and annoying little air bubbles (try not to let them become aneurysms). More old this time. I feel like a cat stuck in a tall tree, or maybe it's just the cat stuck in the tall ...
