In September we toasted the best new bands of 2011 . Bright futures for those guys! But come this time of year it's also important to remember the musical groups who called it a day. Some of these acts were taken from us before their time, while others imploded due to overwhelming apathy. Herewith our look at all of them, good and bad and who? . Thanks again to Matt Neatock for the video production assistance. Please hold your applause until the end. Read More...
Well, this sucks - The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, one of the most criminially underrated British bands of the last decade, have announced they have broken up via their official Facebook page. That's gone and put us in a foul mood for the rest of the week. We know what some of you are mumbling [...]
The band have decided to call it a day...
It's been a while since we mentioned Bad For Lazarus, the excellent band fronted by Rich Fownes, ex-Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster guitarist and shortest serving member of Nine Inch Nails. They've gone and decided to give away a free 2-track EP as a Christmas gift for anyone that cares to download it. The first of [...]

the VIDEODROME RETURNS Moving You through Song & Video by Nick Parker photograph by Guy McKnight In case you missed it, TEMBLD were one of our picks for the ' best of the first half of the year ' at RSL. [...]

Before i begin, i've heard a rumour recently that Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster have split. I really hope it's just that, a rumour and nothing more. In all honesty i probably should've had this post up up sooner but i'd kinda forgot about it. Earlier this year i posted about the long awaited comeback of the Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster and mentioned that i had most of the "hard to find" tracks. Since then i've had a few requests through this site and through emails asking if i could forward the tracks on. So here [...]
We never got round to reviewing The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster's latest album, Blood & Fire, but rest assured we'd have given it a whopping 5.5 out of 6. They've still got it, and they've got it in spades. -- Click here to see the rest of our coverage of Offset Festival 2010.

Yesterday i saw the trailer for the new M. Night Shyamalan movie "Devil". Apparently it's a return to form for the Indian born director. After the classics of "Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable" there was the decent enough "Signs" but then in my opinion his features since then have pretty much been in a steady decline. None more so than his latest effort "The Last Airbender" which has also been panned by media and critics alike. But "Devil" definitely has the potential to be a resounding edge of the [...]
As if TEMBLD's rockabilly punk madness wasn't enough to have drawn you into the sweaty Bohemia, they dazzled everyone with an array of 'interesting' trousers. Hmmm... Fashion Tip, anyone? Click here to see the rest of our coverage of Sonisphere Festival 2010.

As refined as Eighties Matchbox's sound is, it seems that nobody really knows quite what to class them as. I've seen a range of interesting punts at forcing this particular pigeon into a tight hole, including psychobilly, psychosis rock, gothic cabaret and my own personal favourite, swamp-rock. But this is an album that has had one hell of a gestation period, so have things changed at camp B-Line? A five year gap between last release The Royal Society has seen a smattering of rock star stories: members converting to Buddhism, lead guitarist Andy Huxley [...]

After a long hiatus of around five years, dark-hearted, pyschobilly, goth-rockers The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster are back with a new album Blood & Fire out on the 17th May on, appropriately enough, Black Records. A single, Love Turns To Hate precedes it by a week. We picked up this taster from the album via the NME and it is absolutely mental. Spitting fury and bile in equal measure it comes across like Black Flag crossed with Ministry . I think the correct term is [...]

Ok, just to clear things up.....the post about The Prodigy and Bob Dylan collaborating was an April Fools joke. I'd like to think that most people got that but it seems quite a few didn't and actually downloaded the MP3. The "sample" was just a mash together of "Blowin' In The Wind" and "No Man Army". I apologise for any upset caused. MP3: Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster - The Fool To make up for it i'll post some new Deftones stuff. Been meaning to [...]

Sorry if the title is a bit misleading. I'm not talking about the return of that glamorous era of the 80's, no, i'm talking about one of my favourite bands of all time.....the Brighton psychos Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster. They're finally releasing a new album. "Blood and Fire" is set for release on the 17th of May, more than 5 and a half years after their last offering "The Royal Society". If you haven't heard these guys before i'd seriously recommend starting off from the beginning and getting their debut "Horse of The Dog". You won't be disappointed. [...]
![[Listen] – #MusicMonday – 20 Songs Of The Week – March 8th](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2428253_lg.jpg)
If you're unaware of what Music Monday is, it's a Twitter recommendation system where users of Twitter share their favourite music, artists, genres, etc in order to not only find new music themselves but help others find new music too. Using the hashtag (#) followed by "MusicMonday" you can easily find new music posted by the thousands of people making recommendations each week. Every #MusicMonday I upload a playlist of 20 songs that I've been listening to (new and old) over the [...]

This year I am going to have a change of festival coverage having spent the last three years covering Latitude in depth. Having had a good look through whats on offer, I have come to the conclusion that the excellent Cameden Crawl kind of meets all my criteria. First and foremost a lot of the up-and-coming artists have featured on the site! There is a great ethos about the crawl with it being spread over so many venues in close proximity in Camden. Anyway, the latest news on the festival has just hit my inbox. [...]

We've only just realised it has been a momentous week for MM - we've passed our first birthday and managed a full year of posting (403 posts and 635 songs since February 18th last year) and we're allowing ourselves to feel pretty good about that. Otherwise this week we've been well looked after by Grandma Mackerel, we've climbed lighthouses and been to the Glass Museum, we've eaten pick and mix with the mini-mackerel's watching Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief , and Mrs Mackerel has spent some time living in her own episode [...]
Musical plagiarism or just influence? This is a subject i've wanted to write about for a long time now but i've only just found the time to get down to it tonight. The song that made me decide to finally commit to this post was Owl City's "Fireflies". I heard it on the radio at work and although i find myself humming along to its undoubted catchiness i still can't get the fact that he's ripped off The Postal Service out my head. First time i heard it i actually thought it was a new Postal [...]
