Heloise & The Savoir Faire On Friday night, those in the know came out to Le Poisson Rouge for what was guaranteed to be a glittery disco-drenched dance party. And that it was. The perpetrators, Heloise & The Savoir Faire , were in top form for this disco meets electro-pop set. Lead singer Heloise was decked out in one of her signature leotards, this one leopard print, embellished with layers of pearl necklaces. But lets not get ahead of ourselves here - [...]

Here's another single from Joel Plaskett Emergency. It's a nice acoustic track with guitar. Simple stuff. It's part of his plan to release 1 song a week until his release of Scrappy Happiness on March 27th . Joel Plaskett- I'm Yours

The hills are alive with the sound of music. We never thought we could use that line literally, but today is the day. Let's explain. April 5, 6, and 7 will see the Nilgiri's hill station taken over by The Mad Festival which features music, dance and art. Performing at the festival are a mix of folk acts like The Raghu Dixit Project (who recently headlined SIMC Pune's Fest O'Comm ), Yodakaa, La Pongal (performed at Fireflies Festival. Preview here ), and The Kabir Project (who were at the Kabir festival [...]

It's fitting, for those of you who are unfamiliar with Detroit-based rapper, Invincible, that you would find out about her here, on a music blog that devotes equal energy and interest in covering underground artists as it does mainstream acts. Though she has the chops to dominate the mainstream, Invincible is as underground and indie as [...]

Me in front of a huge Christmas tree in Florida Too early? Well here in Florida, where the sun is shining every day and there's no sign of any snow people have already started putting up their Christmas decorations. You guys know that my tradition is to release a Christmas song every year and I just thought I'd let you know that I will this year too! This year I'm happy to announce that the charity connected to the song will be Action Aid . Action Aid works in [...]

Fischerspooner is THE band that jump started my electronic-music obsession almost ten years ago. When I was offered the chance to sit down and chat with Casey Spooner (half of the Fischerspooner duo), I gasped and squealed like an over-enthused 13-year-old girl and immediately accepted the offer. Though I tortured my brain day for days on end to come up with 'the best' interview questions, as soon as I sat down with Casey and cracked upon a Stella, my preparation dissolved into thin air. Casey was (and is) a kind, gentle soul and easy to talk to. He looked dashing [...]
Icy Melbourne sythwave duo, The Emergency, are still rearing their cold heads from time to time, but most recently it's been under their solo monikers: WORNG (Morgan McWaters), and Bad Thoughts (Milo Kossowski). Bad Thoughts, in Milo's words, is "when sleep won't come, the mind makes you a passenger. Thoughts buried by the day's distractions rise to the surface: strange lusts, deadly impulses, tangled conundrums. Bad Thoughts. These songs could be a document of such nocturnal journeys". It's dark and expansive, yet full of deep hues and cosmic landscapes. Milo's first single, 'Remember', [...]

"Te dije que algún día nos reiríamos de esto" es el segundo disco de Emerge, quinteto madrileño de rock instrumental que, tras varios cambios de formación y no pocos avatares, disfruta de una renovada –y más que merecida– atención. It has been so long since we heard a song from BT. This one is pretty great, taking us back to the days in the late 902s when his beats were so freaking hot. The track was produced by BT and Andrew Bayer. Some think this video is cheesy, but if you remember BT for who he always was - that dude that reminded us to get our PLUR (Peace Love Unity and Respect) on through music back at raves in the 902s. "The Emergency" Lyrics: Emergency has [...]

Brighton, UK duo Curxes (pronounced "curses") are the lovely pair of Macaualay Hopwood and Roberta Fidora and they created dramatic and pleasing electronic indie pop that we haven't been able to shake for the few days that we've known anything about the group. Hopwood wrote us and asked to be considered, and we're super glad he did, because with songs like "Creatures", "Jaws" and "Spires" (all available for streaming via Soundcloud), you'll get an intense and cinematic feel to their synthetic pop music right away. And then, of course, you'll be hooked. [...]

I'm not sure if it's completely in-line or completely unexpected to hear that Joel Plaskett holds twelve releases under his belt since he first set out ten years ago. Add to that the mind-blowing one million plays he has on CBC3, and you get a pretty good idea of the kind of career Plaskett has created for himself. So it's fitting that after a whirlwind decade, he fits in the time for a victory lap. EMERGENCYs, false alarms, shipwrecks, castaways, fragile creatures, special features, demons and demonstrations finds Plaskett reaching deep behind himself, into [...]
