I've never hidden my love of pop punk, so it's a little strange that (until hearing this) The Ergs were a band I'd heard of but never actually heard. Things just work out that way sometimes, but if If you love pop-punk there is no reason that you shouldn't love The Ergs. Well, From 2000 to 2008 the New Jersey band blasted out pop punk and released more records that I will ever be able to keep track of. Luckily their final (well, almost final) release is a 33-song collection of songs from 7-inches [...]

November 15th, 2008; a date that will live in pop-punk infamy. The Ergs played their final show on that day, to a sweaty and extremely packed in crowd at New Jersey's Asbury Lanes. Personally, I can't think of a better way to bow out. I had a chance to ask bassist Joe Keller (aka Joey Erg) a few questions about the last shows and what he wants the band to be remembered for. And, of course, the cleanliness of supermarket bathrooms. How did the last shows go? [...]

The recently disbanded Ergs and Teenage Bottlerocket will be featured on the fourth installment of Suburban Home's "Under The Influence" 7-inch series. On the split, Teenage Bottlerocket cover Green Day's "Having a Blast" while The Ergs cover Devo's "Blockhead." Only 2,000 copies of the will be pressed, with 300 on translucent red, 700 on translucent green with black splatter and 1,000 on partly cloudy sky blue vinyl. The record also features amazing artwork from Mitch Clem and Nation of Amanda, as you can see above. Get all the [...]
Yes, this is a recipe for brined and roasted turkey with a musical accompaniment, but I'd rather call it Can You Eat the Turkey From the Southside? Seriously folks, Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away. So I've had deep-fried turkey (good), smoked turkey (even better), but my favorite way to cook a turkey for Thanksgiving (or even Christmas) is brined and roasted. Yes, I'll admit that I ganked the original recipe from the amazing Alton Brown a few years ago, but I've made some minor (and delicious) changes. Here's the recipe: [...]

I grew up on a steady diet of early MTV -staring in awe at the TV screen as bands like The Cars , Bow Wow Wow and The Vapors awkwardly mugged for the camera and played sexed-up new wave tunes whose lyrics flew over my untainted little head. But I was old enough to understand a catchy tune. I remember drumming along to those bands on the right arm of the couch with a pair of markers and ... wait a second, I think I just figured out why I play drums left-handed. [...]

The Ergs! call it a day The Ergs! have broken up.

The Ergs! , everyone's favorite Descendents-loving pop-punk trio from New Jersey, are calling it quits. They've released this statement; "ok. well, it looks like you guys knew us better than we knew us. the ergs are calling it a day. jeff is leaving the band and it wouldn't be the ergs without him. we'll be recording the last couple songs that we've been working on and releasing them on a 73 this fall. we have a bunch of really great shows coming up with some really [...]
Mutant Pop Records totally deserves your money. A couple weeks ago, I sent $12 for three records. Idiot me filled out the order form, then let it sit for a week. I didn?t bother to double-check the website before sending in the form and my check. It?s old-school mail order ...
To the Ergs!: Ending your pop-punk cd with an eighteen-minute long guitar feedback freakout is amazing. Please continue to make music, especially if it means you will at some point come through my town. Upstairs / Downstairs has been the soundtrack to the last few days here at the Nuthouse, to ...

One of the in-the-knows on the Audities mailing list recommended Copenhageners The 20 Belows , so I went to WhoaOh Records to check it out. An hour or two later I emerged with eleven winning numbers. How shall I characterize these songs? I shan't. Well, okay, maybe a bit. Poppy. Lots of fuzz. Fun. (Sorry, didn't mean to get so deep.) Here are four. More to follow. You really would do yourself a favor by getting on the Audities mailing list. Last month approximately 75-80 of my 90 eMusic [...]
