oh dear lord. i could not be more excited about this. for those that dont know, they put out one of my favorite records ever, nothing is okay , back in 08 - i think that was the year. anyway, they put it out, played some shows, then for whatever reason, broke up. its an absolutely heartbreakingly gorgeous record that i still listen to on a weekly basis. i cannot, i repeat, cannot recommend it enough. keep in mind, the two singers sam and jill were probably dating/breaking up during the making of this, not to start any rumours [...]

It has been almost three years now since The Everybodyfields played together on the same stage. The alt-country band from Johnson City, Tenn. broke up just as they were about to break through to a wider audience. No doubt this caused minor waves of panic throughout the Paste Magazine offices. The band comprised of Sam Quinn and Jill Andrews on soaring boy-girl harmonies, with keyboardist Josh Oliver, pedal steel guitarist Tom Pryor and drummer Jamie Cook rounding out their stew of Americana, bluegrass. Andrews has one of the best voices in all of music. [...]
Video: Sam Quinn - “Snow”/ Jill Andrews - “The Mirror” Last year’s bittersweet one-off performance left us longing for a proper Everybodyfields reunion, but I’d be remiss in not mentioning the stunning solo material from Jill Andrews and Sam Quinn arriving since. As it turns out, they both filmed Live & Breathing sessions in Knoxville, Tennessee recently: “The Mirror,” Andrews’ title track off her debut LP below, and “Snow,” a new Sam Quinn tune that starts pulling at the heartstrings around the 1-minute mark above.
Jill Andrews used to be in the band The Everybodyfields. They were a little known, but beloved country band from Johnson City, TN. Then they broke up. She's gone solo and that's a good thing for music fans. Andrews has perhaps one of the best voices in all of music. If not the best. Seriously. Her debut solo album, The Mirror is a perfect example of that. Sure, there are a few clunker songs on the disc, but overall it's a very, very strong effort and indicates that as a [...]

4 years ago, i somehow stumbled upon the everybodyfields' nothing is okay . my first listen of said record didnt yield much feeling, or actually too much enthusiasm, if im being completely honest. yet, there was something about it that kept me coming back to it. first it would be weekly, then every other day, then every day, then a few times a day. it got my under my skin like no record had done in probably at least 15 years. im not really here to talk about that record, but its a heartbreakingly beautiful piece of music. everyone [...]

got a request for a repost of this performance, and leaving what i wrote a year and half ago, cause it still hold true. when its all said and done, the everybodyfield's nothing is okay may go down one day as my favorite record. if you havent heard it, i recommend seeking it out immediately. it was my favorite record back in 2007, and i actually love it more today then i did 2 years ago. its sonically and lyrically gorgeous, but the interplay tween quinn and andrews is heartbreaking and makes for a listen that [...]

Jill Andrews: The Mirror Preview from Harvey Robinson on Vimeo . if you've been visiting these parts for a while you will then be aware of my love for jill andrews, well not for the woman, per se, although she sure is lovely and im sure shes a swell person, but for her music. she is releasing her debut record the mirror on 6.7. it was recorded in north carolina by scott solter (superchunk, etc) and in nashville by neilson hubbard (glenn phillips, etc). it sounds like she's going into a little bit [...]

top of the morning. been feeling a wee bit lazy this week due to this cold that doesnt seem to want to go away. anyway, i have been on an everybodyfields kick the past few days and figured i'd repost this show, as i still am lacking in new shows to post. if for some reason you have never heard their 08? release nothing is okay, you really need to. it came in at number 14 on my favorite records of all time i did a few months back. just a wonderful piece of work. much love to [...]
It's easy to say Sam Quinn's music is sad. When you dive below the surface, however, you'll find beauty in his melancholy and heart on his sleeves approach to writing music. At this point in my life, I couldn't be happier. I've been married to a wonderful and beautiful woman for 12 years, I have three great kids, and live in the suburbs. I'm the god-damned American dream, but like most everybody else, I have had my heart broken. Listening to The Fake That Sunk 1,000 Ships takes me back to some traumatic days moping around [...]
Former Everybodyfields singer Jill Andrews is set to release her debut solo album this year. She came out with a self-titled EP last year, which was extremely impressive (better than anything by her previous band, in my opinion). She recorded a live session for HearYa which was posted yesterday, and played a new, unheard song which could be from said upcoming debut record. Setlist: A Little Less Sweetest in the Morning These Words Worth Keeping Download: Jill Andrews - 'A Little Less' Full Show/More info: http://www.hearya.com/2010/06/ 17/jill-andrews-live-session-7 3/ [...]

Their 2007 album, Nothing Is Okay, was one of the most gorgeously heartbreaking records I heard that year, making the Everybodyfields ’ split two years later quite the bittersweet event: Part of me knew Jill Andrews and Sam Quinn would turn those newfound woes into beautiful songs. And while their subsequent solo projects pulled through to that end (Quinn made one of the saddest LPs ever, in fact), it yanks at my heartstrings—in the best of ways—to hear these two sing together again. As Stranger Almanac (aka Speakers [...]

Most will recognize/remember Sam Quinn as one half of the now defunct band, the everybodyfields . We were big fans. Sometimes a band break up isn't the end of the world. In the case of the everybodyfields, its dissolve has resulted in equally great solo outputs from Jill Andrews and Sam Quinn this year. Quinn's album, The Fake That Sunk A Thousand Ships has been in near constant rotation since arriving two weeks ago. Quinn's music embodies a timeless quality in that what you're hearing could have [...]
May 2010 from Jill Andrews on Vimeo . this is probably as close to an everybodyfields reunion we'll get, but i'll take it. for those unfamiliar with the song, its off lucinda williams' sweet old world . the original is right down there. btw, glad to see sam got rid of the monstrosity of the beard he was rocking for seemingly forever. btw, part two, jill's got a bunch of upcoming dates so click here for the details. getting back to sam, hopefully he puts something out soon cause im sick [...]

With a couple days off between shows in St. Louis and Chicago, singer-songwriter Jill Andrews is heading up to Madison for a very limited house show on Wednesday, April 21 . Tickets are $10 ; doors at 8pm, show at 8:30pm. Jill's new self-titled EP is excellent, and all of you that were lucky enough to see the everybodyfields in Madison back in 2008 know how great she is live. Send an email to nmsc1402@gmail.com to get on the list and receive all the particulars about the show. [...]

For some people, myself included, sad songs make them happy, and the Everybodyfields embodied every note of that spirit. I lapped up every drop of melancholy on their 3rd LP, Nothing is Okay, but then (everything was not okay and) they broke up. Jill Andrews penned a solid break-up EP right off the bat, but former partner Sam Quinn has wallowed in the split a bit longer, releasing his new solo LP, The [...]
