Bully In The Hallway BOO! It's halloweeeen...officially! So here are three truly spooktacular reasons to be at Exit tonight... 1. Despite it being Monday, Halloween is no where close to being over considering that today is the big day. Tonight, there's a good one with local rockers Bully In The Hallway . Since we first started writing about Bully In The Hallway, we've always noted that their alt-rock riffs and post-punk vocals occasionally reminds us of Fugazi . Well, Bully In The Hallway will finally just go [...]

The Exit Music Festival recently concluded in Novi Sad, the second largest city in Serbia. The festival's name (also called State of Exit ) is a reference to its early origins in 2000, when Serbia was still best known for its warmongering president, Slobodan Milošević. The festival has since evolved from a political movement against a now-ousted regime to an event that attracts both fans and artists on a worldwide level. We were lucky enough to be there this year, so hit the jump if you want to read about this interesting festival outside our usual coverage zone. [...]
Sene recently released " exit, us ", an introspective 10-minute track that flowed into a number of scenes, reminiscent of Jay Electronica's "Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge)". To keep the energy moving for that beautiful song, he has dropped a video for "good thymes", the closing segment to that marathon of a song. While there isn't too much to the video itself, it does paint a nice picture for Sene's candid lyrics. Let's hope that this means we will be seeing more videos materialize from that fantastic project! Hit the skip to peep the visuals.
Cork band Exit: Pursued By A Bear take their name from Shakespeare's play The Winter's Tale, which induced nightmares in my final year at college self. Anyway, the band has been around for years and years, took a break for a little bit and returned last year and released a [Read more]
Sene 's "exit,us" starts with a delayed piano and it trickles about the atmospheric track. The only thing keeping it pasted together and getting lost into something spacier, is the presence of his voice. He says, "Passion, written in the caption," and, "Homer most definite notorious, bullets flying by you in the squeeze like accordions." The ten-minute track has trip-hop, experimental influence with odd samples, but finds its rhythm as he speaks. The horns and strings are real, and the rhymes are even realer. Meet Hey Sholay, a quintet hailing from Sheffield with a penchant for masks (especially big fluffy ones...) Now truth be told as far as any further introduction is concerned I don't really feel I can outshine the band's brilliant self description on their facebook page, ranging from the kind of inevitable "It's raining in Sheffield" to the rather more poetic "spray-spitting black umbrellas convulse in the wind like fevered crows", it really does deserve to be read in full HERE . The band formed a couple of years ago " having met in varied musical avenues, a Tuesday night [...]
Maybe it's cos dBridge was in town last night but I have this urge to be fully-locked in some Autonomic session right now and Jimmy Edgar is hitting the spot. This was all posted a short while... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Rotten Sound's Curse is a loud record. No one can deny that. They have the speedy blast beats, vocals, and guitar riffs every grindcore band should have. However, this LP loses a lot of potential energy in its extremely regulated recording. I know the in-the-moment sound bands like Terrorizer and Napalm Death had is a thing of the past, but even Pig Destroyer is a lot less scheduled than this band. The high-gloss finish on this production and the impressive musicianship will make this album entertaining for a lot of people, which is fine. That's just not what [...]

Each week that passes brings us all closer to knowing the details of our festival fates. With more rumors leaking in daily, there's plenty of anticipation building for the official announcements. Superbowl Sunday found many of us preoccupied in between quarters and touchdowns, as we anxiously awaited one such announcement. Of course I'm talking about the Sasquatch! Festival, not only one of the biggest in the country, but also the reigning champion of CoS's "Festival of the Year" title. As always, there was plenty other news to satisfy us this week. South by Southwest may be rapidly approaching, [...]

Never saw myself doing a drum and bass post, but this new Exit Records comp is on the extreme outer fringes of the genre. (So it's barely a drum and bass post.) In the writeup for Mosaic, Vol. 1 , Exit casually calls the comp "drum and bass" a few times over. This has me puzzled. To my highly American and drum-and-bass-shy ears, only five of Mosaic 's 20 tracks sound even remotely like the genre. It's much more in the spirit of early '90s Warp ELM/IDM than any drum and bass I'm used [...]
Mosaic Vol 1 CD by Exit Records UK With so much good music arriving in the Exit inbox it was decided that a various artist project was needed to ensure that it all sees the light of day and doesn't get caught up in a never ending schedule of singles. As normal with Exit Records, there's no prejudice in the track selection. Well known producers such as Skream, Instra:mental, Scuba and Commix [...]

I'm not so spoiled and jaded by being a part of this music machine to have lost my basic inner fanboy nature, and let me tell you, as far as being a fanboy goes, UK-based Criminal Records know just how to feed me. First up, great news that The Kut are back in the studio preparing some new songs. For those who may not recall, their single (green vinyl 7") "Doesn't Matter Anyway b/w Closure" was one of my absolute favorites of 2009. The tightness of the riffing, the driving beat, the solid songwriting [...]

"Exit" is the lead track from electronic artist Dorian White's new Holding a Ghost EP. "Exit" plays almost like hymn, like something sacred, if sacred music could ported over 808s. Dorian White - Exit via ISO50 Rating: 8.2
