Through checking out Tom Robinson's 'Fresh On The Net' I've become acquainted with the music of the highly talented and extremely prolific Debbie McCoy . So being inquisitive by nature I dropped Debbie an email with a few questions and the answers in return were fascinating and extremely open and honest. Her story is a real eye opener and she has to be commended on her resilience in producing such beautiful music in what has been very trying times. [...]
I love finding new bands. I usually have a lot of help from the Twitter world. In particular, user @fezzer70 (Lee Fereday) has impeccable taste in music. I take his suggestions without question. From there, I simply 'follow the white rabbit', looking at what music the band likes, finding similar bands, etc. In the end I have lots of new tunes to listen to and also to share with AMBY! So, this playlist is about listening to the suggestions of other music lovers and seeing where it will take you. Some amazing bands featured [...]

We don't know anything about Form & Shapes , which makes an Introducing post a little difficult to say the least. There isn't any blurb on his Bandcamp page or even a Facebook page at all, we just have one small tidbit from his .com site, which simply states; // ethereal feelings beat tapes by calvin hansen // Whoever Calvin Hansen is, the music of Form & Shape is stunning; most definitely ethereal and certainly primed to evoke feelings. Latest release, My Conquest Is The Sea Of [...]
The long form video has gained in popularity, but really - does anyone have time for them?

As 2012 winds down, so does the number of new album releases - this week being one of the thinnest of the year, if not the thinnest. But, there are still some great singles from this week's fresh drops to share with you. Plus, to make up for the gap, we're including new releases from [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

I have been very lucky to get exposure to many, many bands in recent months through Twitter. I thought I would share some of my favourites with you here! Butter Up Your Enemy - Apache Tears Moving On - The AK Band Absence of the Noise - Formes No Friends - The Minx Forest Whitaker - Bad Books [...]
Formes are a five piece psych-rock band from Leeds who are releasing their debut single Absence of the Noise on the 5th December. It is a very promising debut, initially meandering along on swirling guitars and slightly subdued vocals to create a melancholic, slightly otherworldly listening experience, which builds and builds in intensity to a very satisfying coda - one to watch we think! a Follow @madmackerel

Dutch artists Hugo de Kok and Kay van Vree explore "the shapes and forms of popular foods when flattened," writes Christopher Jobson over at Colossal. The video is ridiculously mesmerizing, not the least of which because the music is so perfectly coordinated with the popping food products.

It's safe to say that a majority of our readers are quite familiar with the musical history of Port Chester, New York's Capitol Theatre . Built in 1926 and designed by the architect Thomas W. Lamb, who also designed the United Palace Theater in Upper Manhattan, the theater may be most famous for hosting the Grateful Dead an astonishing 18 times during an 11-month period, but also saw just about every major and influential music act grace its stage from Pink Floyd, Traffic, Joe Cocker and Janis Joplin (who played her next-to-last show there) in the early 19702s to [...]

Earlier this week, Dinowalrus dropped a track from their upcoming LP, Best Behavior , which is set to be released on March 6th, 2012 via Old Flame Records . Best Behavior was recorded over the past two years with Nadim Issa and Matt Walsh (of The Forms ), and features drumming from The Depreciation Guild ’s Anton Hochheim. On this, their second LP, band has narrowed their focus in order to create synthy jangle rock in the vein of the Madchester sound. This track has a brief cameo [...]

Released November 7th by Tech-champion label, Form Music , Double Tap EP features the superb joint-efforts of groove-king Jay Lumen and funk-guru Sinisa Tamamovic . The EP consists of two tracks, 'Yeah Mann' and 'Double Tap'. Both tunes include full-sounding, bouncy bass lines that'll have any listener head-bumpin' and chair-ravin' like a pro. 'Double Tap' has a jumpy, straight two and four sample riding on top, that in my opinion, gave this tune its name. 'Yeah Mann' is a bit more smoother, with syncopated voice samples that command your attention, and [...]
