Mel T. called it when she said these guys provoke "freakbeat fan boy/fan girl moves from the collective". This gig was fun for sure and this cool new spot has had some sweet shows with more to come. The only downer is that I can't really remember any standout tracks. I'm not saying it all sounded the same, just that it all sounded like something I've heard before. But hey I'm old man so y'know... whatever. you'll probably love em or be too drunk to care either way. You can stalk them [...]

These Geelong boys have been kicking about for several years now, spreading the guitar-pop love through their 60s inspired tunes. Once more, here is August's edition of the Music Alliance Pact . For those of you who don't know about MAP, it's a collection of music blogs from around the world who band together once a month to shed light on up-and-comers from their home countries. It's sort of like the WTO without the human rights violations. This month we've welcomed five new countries: China, Greece, India, Indonesia, and South Africa . This edition showcases 31 tracks from around the world. Once again I've gone ahead and [...]

This week is an ominous black cloud, menacingly hovering above Citizen Dick headquarters. Three of our five writers are educational professionals, meaning that in five short, fun-filled days our carefree summertime existence comes to a screeching halt. Our three month hiatus from all things work-related has been a great ride, as it is every year. We've been able to provide quite a bit of excellent coverage all Summer, and while we certainly hope to continue in the same mode, we know that our time is going to be more limited. Weeknight concerts become more difficult to attend, boozing nights become [...]

Indiecision is proud to be part of the Music Alliance Pact - a collective of 31 of the world's top music blogs and webzines from 31 countries spanning six continents. Every month, each of these 31 sites picks one hot local song that gets posted on all these great blogs and zines. This month, we picked lyrical pop duo Sridhar/Thayil 's 'Bring Me Rain' as the Indian track on this massive mixtape. They're currently working on their debut album; we checked them out at a set at the Blue Frog a couple of months ago. [...]
oh boy is MAP growing! now featuring the music of 31 different countries, it has a larger representation than NATO as founder and organizer jason from scotland notes. this month, our local music ambassador brian koh brings to us an offering by jonathan chan , the prolific lead singer of plain sunset . it's the simplest of songs, and one of the loveliest too. enjoy! MAP (Music Alliance Pact) asks 31 music bloggers (now taking entries from Greece, China, South Africa, Indonesia and India) across the world to share a track from their home country that they think you should hear. My Irish pick this month: The Dying Seconds. ARGENTINA: Zonaindie Baby Scream - Ups And Downs Baby Scream is a musical project led by Juan Mazzola, [...]

MEXICO: Club Fonograma Selma Oxor - Abrazame Demonio Selma Oxor is the vindication of a blasted youth that has fun exploring rock, techno and pop, an all-in-one distorted vision that according to their MySpace sounds like "a cow giving birth". From their self-titled debut album comes "Abrazame Demonio", a moment of useless exertion perhaps, but it's one of the few perfect songs we'll get to hear this year. It effectively transitions its noisy [...]

It's time for this month's Music Alliance Pact (MAP), where music bloggers from all over the world go together and present favourite bands from their own country. This month, MAP is even bigger than usual. We're joined by bloggers from China, Greece, India, Indonesia and South Africa, and the number of participating blogs, songs and countries are now as much as 31! My own favourites this time includes especially the incredibly beautiful music from South Korea's Sunkyeol, England's brilliant The XX, Indonesia's sweet, folky pop from The Whispy Hummers, New Zealand's dark and [...]

ARGENTINA: Zonaindie Baby Scream - Ups And Downs Baby Scream is a musical project led by Juan Mazzola, with the ocassional collaboration of friends such as Cristian Basualdo, Sebasti疣 Rubin and even Gilby Clarke's bassist Muddy Stardust. Mazzola writes pop songs with a strong influence from classics like The Byrds, The Beatles and The Replacements. This beautiful acoustic ballad was taken from the album with the same name, released last year in the [...]

Strap on, folks - the Music Alliance Pact is guiding you into some of the most diverse corners of Planet Earth this month. We've been joined by five more music blogs - representing China, India, Indonesia, Greece and South Africa - taking MAP membership to an all-time high of 31 countries. Not only is that three more than NATO, it's six more than the number of nations who took part in this year's Eurovision Song Contest final. However, you won't find any posturing superpowers or neighbourly favouritism in MAP. It's one country, one song. And as [...]
