This week Jersey punk heroes The Gaslight Anthem played a rousing set at the Electric Factory; local four-piece The Menzingers, who has been on tour with the band, opened the show. Check out a photo recap of both sets in the gallery above. Continue reading ’

The Gaslight Anthem have come a long way, and if a three night run at Terminal 5 doesn't speak for itself, then you just gotta be there to understand. The band have a dedicated following that is very Springsteen in spirit. You got fans of all ages young and old, and most of them from New Jersey and proudly letting it show. The band is capable of provided both soft, sincere moments ("Mae", "Here's Looking At You, Kid"), as well as those stadium worthy rock anthems that had the crowd singing every word as it was their last hope [...]
Philly punk rockers The Menzingers released their major label debut On the Impossible Past in February after wowing Bad Religion guitarist and Epitaph Records founder Brett Gurewitz.  Tonight, the Scranton-born outfit opens for New Jersey's The Gaslight Anthem at The Electric Factory.  Tickets and more information can be found here.  Watch The Menzingers' video for "Nice ... The kids are into Gaslight Anthem. It's a fact; they sell out Sound Academy and pack it with a mainly male audience dressed in black, sporting tattoos and their girlfriends in tow (also avec tattoos), and everyone hangs off of every emotive lyric. Gaslight have a good thing going. They play straight-up blue collar rock (and sure, the Boss influence is definitely there), but they offer their own take on the genre. No synths. No odd get-ups. No distracting light show. Just solid stage presence, an earnest, give-it-all lead [...]
The Gaslight Anthem has released "National Anthem", a Hurricane Sandy Relief video: The band is also selling a number of items to raise funds for Rebuild Recover and Architecture For Humanity's 'Rebuild Seaside Pier' effort.

It's been just over three weeks since Frankenstorm Sandy ravaged the North East, and many cities are still dealing with the devastation. The Gaslight Anthem' s home state of New Jersey was one of the hardest hit by the storm and they highlight the state's ensuing struggles in their video for Handwritten  track "National Anthem". Tragic images of the storm's destruction, including before-and-after shots of Seaside Heights pier and disturbing aerial images of towns, slowly fade in and out as Brian Fallon laments: "And I can't stand the weather, no I never liked the [...]

Welcome to my blog, where you’ll find my music related adventures and a bunch of other stuff. So I guess I’ll start by explaining the name of the blog. It’s a line from Blue Jeans And White T-Shirts, my favorite Gaslight Anthem song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =WgIc8_Bcsyk Brian Fallon is such a great lyricist. I mean, just listen to the song: And we sing with our heroes thirty-three rounds per minute, We're never going home until the sun says we're finished. And [...]

The Gaslight Anthem have booked a European tour set to kick off in March 2013.
the gaslight anthem - here comes my man i think i've always been enamored with the 'idea' of the gaslight anthem ever since bruce springsteen got on stage with them and basically passed a working class hero baton to these young jersey boys. i think they are slowly growing into their role as this anthem is officially the first time i not only remember one of their tunes... but also kind of love it! and fans of happy endings, that is indeed elisha cuthbert as the video lead. [...]

The Gaslight Anthem are working with their frequent video director Kevin Slack on a new short film called "Every Word Handwritten." Judging by the title, it wouldn't be too much of a shock if the film had something to do with the band's 2012 major label debut, Handwritten in 2012. It also probably wouldn't be that much of a shock to see it delivered alongside the band's "Black Friday" EP, Hold You Up which is due out later this month. So far, the band is [...]

[[ This is a content summary only. Why, it was just last week that we heard Gaslight Anthem covering Foo Fighters' " Everlong ," and already we've got another seemingly random cover from the band. Their version of Bon Iver's breakout track, "Skinny Love," is featured on the Gaslight Anthem's new Here Comes My Man EP. To me, it sounds a little bit like Brian Fallon literally just singing over the Bon Iver original (especially on the first verse), sort of drowning out Justin Vernon's frailer vocal, like a YouTube karaoke cover or something. But maybe that's what he was going for. Give it a [...]
