The three B’s of the Jersey shore: beer, b owling and Bruce Springsteen. Add in a fourth B – Brooklyn – and you’ve got the ingredients of Friday night’s Gaslight Anthem show. The up-and-coming punk revivalists played a packed set at the Brooklyn Bowl while lager flowed, p ins tumbled, and hipsters said the hell with ironic distance, crowd surfing, fist pumping, and uninhibitedly yelling along. Oregon’s Broadway Calls kicked things off with a fast-paced [...]

The Gaslight Anthem have come a long way in just a years time. Since the release of The '59 Sound in August 08, the New Brunswick quartet have played Glastonbury Festival (with Bruce Springsteen), Lollapalooza, appeared on almost every late night talk show and filled the 3000 capacity Terminal 5. Last night The Gaslight Anthem took the stage around 10:30pm, after openers Murder By Death, Jesse Malin & Broadway Calls. The relatively flawless set stretched just over 90 minutes. Long time fans made their presence known up [...]

The Wars of 1812 announce break-up, Doomtree sets vinyl releases, Har Mar Superstar prepping HBO show & next week's best new releases.
Great news Gaslight Anthem fans. They're set to go back into the studio in January to record a new album, which is set to be a straight-up rock record. Watch frontman Brian Fallon talking about what the next record will be like:
New music from Minor Kingdom, Dylan's X-mas album hits the web & Prince takes over France.
For a cynic like myself whose first instinct is to cry bullshit when bands pull out their “heart on their sleeves” routine, it was a telling experience that enabled me to realize not only how connected people are with these bands, but also that this type of music is simply not for me.
Live shots from the weekend.
Video: The Gaslight Anthem "Come Together" (Beatles cover)
It seems like we've all been inundated with The Beatles over the last few weeks. But beyond the video games, the remastered box sets and hoopla over album sales and records to be broken, another well-intentioned admirer has made an attempt to utilize the Beatles magic in a jar: None other than New Jersey's own The Gaslight Anthem . In an appearance on The Fox 99.3 6 O'clock Rock Report in Vancouver (via PunkNews.org ), lead singer Brian Fallon and guitarist Alex Rosamilia have put their New Brunswick punk and Shore sound spin [...]

[MP3] The Gaslight Anthem - "Great Expectations" Is the Gaslight Anthem getting too Bro? With musical connections ripe for a myriad of Springsteen comparisons, we think they may be one Cadillac short of a Heineken sponsorship. Though Springsteen has reached bro-stardom to excess, he has tapped other demographic markets that supersede such a raucous fan base. The fact that Gaslight hail from New Jersey and stomp on the grounds of Springsteen's kingdom, isn't helping their case either. Regardless, there is no substitute for the genuineness of their debut effort, [...]

If Springsteen and the E Street Band were punk, they would be Brian Fallon and The Gaslight Anthem . With their signature brand of Boss-infused New Jersey pop-punk, The Gaslight Anthem blew the roof off the Showbox at the Market September 23rd. Guitarist Alex Rosamilia, bassist Alex Levine, drummer Benny Horowitz, and vocalist/guitarist Brian Fallon pulled off an entertaining and interactive show. They effortlessly got the crowd moshing, dancing, and singing along for the duration of their set. Touring in support of The '59 Sound , they touched on most everything from [...]
Jersey-appropriate though it may be--parts of that state are nothing but bowling alleys--it's still sort of ridiculous that the Gaslight Anthem are playing Brooklyn Bowl, a venue that is at this p... Continue reading "Gaslight Anthem Are Playing Brooklyn Bowl, Somehow; Tickets Go On Sale Today" >

Gaslight Anthem didn't have much warning that Bruce Springsteen wanted to lend a helping hand at Glastonbury this summer - about three minutes, in fact. The band's drummer Benny Horowitz tells Spinner how Springsteen told them he wanted to come onstage to help them out on 'The '59 Sound' just minutes before they were due to take to the John Peel stage. "We knew he was poking around the camp a little bit. His son is a fan of the band and I'm pretty sure that's how he came to hear [...]

Though Frank Turner is still a young buck in the folk-punk game—he turns 28 in December—he’s accomplished an awful lot in the past few years. The British songwriter forsook a fledgling career fronting punk bands to write detailed, contemplative pub pop and stirring folk-punk anthems with stylistic nods to Ted Leo, Against Me! and—while Turner says he’s a only recent convert to his music—Billy Bragg. Turner’s songs—tales of drinking, loving and aging against a backdrop of stupid pop culture—would overwhelm listeners with pop sentimentality if they didn’t ring so true. On Poetry of the Deed, Turner’s third album in as [...]

It's quite a night overall — and for fans of the L.A. scene in particular. Six local faves (three on a bill) are opposite each other at two venues. The Airborne Toxic Event kicks off its big tour with the Henry Clay People and Red Cortez at Pomona's Fox Theater Pomona, while Sea Wolf [pictured] — days away from the release of its sophomore album "White Water, White Bloom" — is joined by Afternoons and Sara Lov at the Troubadour. ... Big night at the Greek, with [...]

I had no idea who Murder By Death was before their show at the Bottleneck on Saturday evening. I now pity myself because I've been missing out on years of Death's musical awesomeness. After grabbing a cold (as in partially icy) beer, I took a seat towards the back of the venue to listen to Cowboy Indian Bear 's opening set. I wasn't planning on reviewing them again because I recently saw them open for Peter Bjorn & John [...]
In order to embolden the impact of their moodily melodic 2nd album, ‘The 59 Sound’, The Gaslight Anthem cuts straight to a chorus impact in their emotion twisting single, ‘The Backseat’. It represents straight edge, country tinge rock from the outset. During the low-key, treading percussion climbing mid-song build is when the true range of front [...]
