So the family has been preparing for a camping trip this week. We're heading off to Jasper, which means I am beginning to think of what music I'll be bringing along for the road. Whenever we go on a summer vacation, there are a number of things that I have to do in advance. Mostly it involves hiding a ton of CD's so that I don't have to hear them on the trip. It's kinda childish, but neglecting to do so can have devastating consequences. I know there are people [...]
The Go Team - Bull In The Heather Fridays are great when you don't have to go to work. Take next Friday off if you can, and you'll see what I mean. So, you may remember the Go Team...
Hardly any released worth mentioning this week, unless you wanted the Snakes on a Plane soundtrack. Next week though will be a monster week for great album releases, so definitely look forward to that. To not make this post a complete waste of time I made a little mix of electronic songs for my little drive to Atlanta later today. Chemical Brothers | "Star Guitar" Goldfrapp | "Twist" Basement Jaxx | "Romeo" [...]

Innipúkinn um sÃðustu helgi var nær eintóm vonbrigði, Ghostigital og Mugison best. Ne nni ekki einu sinni að skri fa um hann. Morrissey var skÃnandi góður og hress. Fullkomin poppstjarna með frábæra sviðsframkomu. Skipulagið á tónleikunum var fáránlegt. Þeir sem áttu miða à stúku fengu sæti niðri á gólfi og þeir sem voru à stæði voru à stúkunni. Svo endaði það með þvà að þeir sem höfðu mætt fyrst á staðinn til að tryggja sér fremstu sætin niðri voru illa sviknir þvà einhverjum fokkings hálfvitum datt à hug að gefa skÃt à liðið sem sat prúðbúið og standa fyrir framan sviðið. Fólk tróð sér fyrir framan sviðið svo þeir sem fremst sátu sáu ekki neitt. [...]

today's post will be short on words and medium length on music. it will be huge on me telling you that i am going on vacation tomorrow. but don't fret, loyal ydb readers, i have some wonderful guest bloggers filling in for me. now, i have to go take all of my shampoo, shaving gel, water bottles and tylenol gel caps out of my carry on, so i'm just going to leave with something near and dear to my heart: a selection of covers, just for you! self - what [...]
It was almost two years ago that I came across the fantastic album Thunder! Lightening! Strike! and sang it's praises on this site. It took another year before the album would be released in the United States (due to many samples being unable to be licensed and eventually having to be removed form the US version of the record.) I have both versions and the original is clearly superior, but both are great... Anyway, The Go! Team put on a crazy fun show at Lollapalooza and I think they gained an enormous amount of [...]

Five smokin' hot bloggers give a listen to some music that's somehow found its way into my iPod. Hilarity ensues as they either fawn over the track or totally trash it. These are the cool kids on our panel: Aaron from aanthems ( TSS nomenclature: Aa) Jeremy from In A Vault Underground ( TSS nomenclature: Vault) Jim from Jockohomo (TSS nomenclature: Jocko) Scott from Palochi (TSS nomenclature: Palo) A-Ron from [...]

Lollapalooza day two! I was a little late getting started yesterday morning and Be Your Own Pet's noon-hour set was the casualty. The first band I did catch was Cold War Kids , who are something of a blog favourite - a fact that didn't really bode well for them considering how often my tastes fall in line with the buzz du jour. What they were, to me, was Modest Mouse covering soul tunes. Does Isaac Brock know how many bands are stealing his singing style? Or lack thereof? [...]

On Monday, I visited the lovely megatown of Brighton (& Hove) with my friend. What an odd place. We first went down to the seafront, and checked out some fish'n'chipperies, but soon hit the shops. And what a lot of shops there are. I won't bore you with all the details, but basically we decided to slip down the backstreets (called 'The Lanes'), where the more interesting independant shops were. We eventually found a great store called Resident , and another called Rounder Records (more vinyl-based), where I picked up a few records by Fields, [...]
Are covers only good for the dancefloor? Is a new take on an old track as creative as the original? Can we really separate music from vocal in an artform that combines the two? Listen: The Raconteurs - Bang Bang (Sonny Bono cover) The Go! Team - Bull in the Heather (Sonic Youth cover) Editors - ...

mp3: The Go! Team - Everyone's A VIP to Someone Dear The Go! Team, So as you may have heard, I am working at camp this summer. The camp is for kids who like to hand around their computers a little too much, and their parents who don't know what to do to them so they send them to this place where they get to make video games. One of my major responsibilities is to keep the morale of the campers and staff up. I am not sure how [...]
I would have posted this about a year ago had it not been for its omnipresence around the world of the blog. With the gushing noise almost abated it seems appropriate to reintroduce the majestic globe of activity that is ‘Bottle Rocket’ as the band set out on some prestigious slots supporting Sonic Youth and the Flaming Lips. The version included here is the original, more appetising, cut that

So a couple of online magazines have featured my photography recently. Purpose out of France, and Mooncruise . Each one shows different work from my two different sites . Kinda cool. ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ---------------------- MP3: Covers, covers, covers, covers, covers. Awesome. • The Go! Team - Bull In The Heather A place in myspace . Support enthusiasm, buy music
Edellisellä Thunder, Lightning, Strike -levyllään erittäin positiivisesti yllättänyt brittiläinen The Go! Team on ilmoittanut valmistelevansa uutta levyä, jonka julkaisu on ajankohtainen ensi vuoden puolella. Uuden Doing It Right - singlen nauhoitukset sen sijaan on saatu on päätökseen. Viralliseen levitykseen kappale ehtii syyskuussa 2006. Yhtyeen johtohahmo Ian Parton kuvailee tulevaa singleä seuraavin sanoin: "quite heavy on the 60s girl-group, Northern Soul kind of feel, Phil Spector-y, but with chanty vocals in it as well" Singlekappaleen kaverina on myös kaksi b-puolta, joista toinen on [...]

With the band due to start recording a follow up to 'Thunder, Lightning, Strike' in the next week in Brighton and with a single due in September, there's no rest for one of the most energetic and fun bands you're likely to hear. In an interview this week with Pitchfork the band's leader Ian Parton suggested that the song "Doin it Right" will be the single released in September. There has been a superb live recording of this track around for the last few months and I have been listening to it a lot along with [...]

Washington DC's Pancake Mountain is a kids TV show with a difference. It features energetic LITTLE kids dancing not to day-glo smiley pop acts but bands such as the Arcade Fire, The Go! Team, Metric, The Subways, Anti Flag, The Fiery Furnaces, Shonen Knife and George Clinton . It's quite bizarre but great fun to watch. Creator Scott Stuckey says the show appeals to younger minds through witty word play and great music. "Since I've started the show, I've gotten a ton of CDs and e-mails from bands that do 'children's [...]
As 2005 starts to draw to its end, Take Your Medicine's Mike has pulled together the votes of several top British based music bloggers (and us) and podcasters to produce a Top 40 of current UK acts. The winners, perhaps somewhat surprisingly, are Girls Aloud, inching ahead of the Go Team, Radiohead and Bloc Party. It's the sort of cussed, unexpected result and mix of bands which probably relfects more warmly on British music blogs than British music itself - it's a glorious mixture of styles, the hugely successful and the less well known, and [...]
