The Darkness- The Trak Godz 'Strictly Music Miami 20122 features 5 new tracks from artists of the house underground family from the UK to South Africa. These include Soweto production duo Alpha & Omega ft Aubrey Black, who delivers a sublime spoken word on the lush, deep and afrocentric 'Unknown Beauty'. In addition, Strictly Music's label boss Pat Bedeau teams up with Episode Records boss, Kenny Large and vocalists Shishani & Correspondence on 'Synchronicity' which is beautifully remixed top French producer, Nassau. Also featured on the sampler are 2 productions from The Trak Godz, aka [...]
Read part one of Leyla's Japanese adventure here. The Metal Travel Guide is a pretty handy website if you're looking to find local music haunts in the cities you're traveling to/within, and I decided to try out it rather than rely on dumb luck like in Osaka. There were a few listings for Tokyo, so I [...]
Click here to view the embedded video. (via omnimix ) A few weeks ago, at the Daymon Day Eve Show , two pretty funny spontaneous moments happened. First, a bachelorette party invaded Freaky Franz's performance of "I'm A Freak" . (see above) Then Lev Don ( son of Eric Moore of the Godz ) was the only rapper in the building not too faded to rap for Nick Tolford [...]

![[Listen/Download] – New Song By Slow Animal – "Summer's Going To Hurt"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3435705_lg.jpg)
Tweet It's been a hot minute since New Jersyan char-broiling Garage-Rock duo Slow Animal dropped any new tracks but today that allllll changed. Announcing that the song will be a part of a compilation being released in the U.K. with Las Robertas, Warm Brains, and The Proper Ornaments, they also mentioned that it'll be on their debut album being released in the Summer. Actually the last time we had any new music from them was last October and even then [...]

Someday I will write story of Columbus graffiti's roots in Biker rock. Untill then here are some candid pictures of Columbus, Ohio Biker rock legends The Godz . Eric Moore is my close friend Alex Moore's dad. I was unable to go to the November 5th show but another one of our friends, B , caught some candid pictures of the The Godz at the LC and also hanging out out at the Carabar the show.
In celebration of the upcoming 200th Sunday Mix Tape, I've decided to spend a few days this week taking a leisurely stroll down memory lane. My memory's lane. I've compiled 199 official Sunday Mix Tapes as well as a few compilations that arrived on a Monday or other random day. It's time to take a look back and examine why this feature has become such a huge success. Since I can't post 200 MP3s this week, I'm going to list what is - in my opinion - the standout track from each installment of the series. About half [...]
Two new songs from New Jersey's Slow Animal , taken from a cassette-released EP on Trivial Pursuit. Previously featured on the site back in July with five buzz-filled, Lo-Fi-driven summer noise-jams, these are the first new tunes in a few months and can be heard along with four other songs, all previously released for free that can be heard here. It's good to know they're writing and recording some new tunes so maybe an LP is in the wings. One can only hope, but in the meantime, cop that cassette , [...]

The CD is titled Power Rock From USA but should be called Belligerent Biker Metal From Columbus, OH . Combining all of their self titled debut album (produced by Don Brewer of Grand Funk !) and most of the 2nd one, Nothing Is Sacred , this is essential 70's hard rock, especially if you love Steppenwolf, The Dictators , (early) Kiss and Mahogany Rush . The Godz should have been huge. Despite being signed to Casablanca Records and touring with Kiss and Cheap [...]

Our dear cat has had a rough time of it lately. Ole fatso always was the undisputed king of the neighbourhood, but recently he lost a fight and had deep wounds to show for it. Thanks to the vet, who shot him up with multivitamins and even antibiotics, all is well again however. In tribute, here´s a phenomenal feline six pack. Featuring the Kinks at their typically British best, and a swampy contribution from good old Little Feat. "Livin' in strange dreams, taking prescribed medication..." There´s some sharp jazz by the tenor [...]

The Godz - Third Testament Much has been debated (in small circles at least) about the importance of The Godz within the context of modern music. Lester Bangs' experience with their first album is probably the most telling. For well over a year he considered it (and thus told people it was) the worst album ever made, but eventually he would grow to love it so much he'd become one of the band's main champions. And he's right in saying that they are one of the most inept, but also one of the [...]
This week marked a week of "ends" in my life. I'm officially cutting off buying records for the next month (dropped $300 on one record is...like...I don't even want to talk about how dumb I feel right now). I'm done free-spending in general (I just bought an expensive camera, too). LOST is over for the next eight or nine months. I ended my boycott of the beach, put on a bathing suit and spent a day at the shore. I don't know, some other shit ended too. That's why today's mix tape is called "The End." [...]

Normally, I keep most things seperate. But tonight is pretty special. A close friend of mine, Lev's, and his father Eric Moore are performing at Carabar. Yes, the Godz,Mike Rep,Envelope and and the Bootleggers are sharing the Carabar stage. Read the article I wrote about it in the Alive . Guns and fucking roses dood.

Hey kids. Today was a long one. Got to work a half-hour before opening to prepare for a big storewide sale, and just walked into Nicci's place five minutes ago. Some of the discounts were larger than my normal employee discount, so I bought a handful of records that I'd been holding onto for a few weeks. Superfuzz Bigmuff , a Steve Reich record, the first Saints album ( I'm Stranded ), and a bunch of seven-inch records (Big Black's Il Duce , Minutemen's Paranoid Time , two Flying Saucer attack 7"s and a Tortoise 7"). All [...]
Apologies for not writing a second entry last night, but I got kind of drunk and was too tired to type. Ken and Jack procured a bottle of vodka and two six packs of beer, which the three of us worked our way through while watching the Mets lose to the Dodgers (ugh). We were joined by Matt, and the four of us decided to shoot some pool with the remainder of our evening. By the time we were kicked out by an angry old man guard, we were in varying stages of intoxication. Someone (Jack?) [...]
Today marks a very special occasion for this blog, and it could be perceived as a happy thing or a sad thing depending on how you look at it. Tonight will be the final Sunday Mix Tape. I'm stopping at number 100, and in all likelihood there will never be another Mix Tape posted here. Since I started doing this over two years ago, a ton of music blogs (remember: this isn't a music blog, no matter what others say) have followed my lead. Some of them have even stolen my themes! Whatever, I don't give a fuck. I know [...]
This may surprise you, but I wasn't always the hip, cultured and musically obsessed figure that I am today. Just a decade ago I was a shy and quiet kid, whose musical interests began and ended with my parents records, which included The Beatles, Cros...

Wouldn't it be fun to hear a tribe of primates cover The Beatles and completely embellish, mock, and destroy it all at the same time? Well, back in the high-tide of the hippies, before the birth of punk, an unknown band from NYC consisting of four far-out maniacs called the Godz, did just that. The Godz are for fans of Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention and White Light/White Heat era Velvet Underground. Their second album, Godz 2 from 1967, features a freaky rendition of the Beatle's tune "You Won't See [...]
Today was the big chili cook-off at the Beverly Hills Farmer's Market. You're going to wait until tomorrow (isn't that the refrain of Silverchair's first single?) to hear all about it. If I had two describe it in two words, I will say, "Tears. Hair." I'm sure you will be waiting on the edge of your seat for my description of the event. Yes, there will be pictures. No, they are not good. RULES for uninitiated noobs : With 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods [...]
