Deerhunter @ Variety Playhouse (Halloween 2008) Ever since Deerhunter 's Lockett Pundt released his The Floodlight Collective under his Lotus Plaza moniker, I had been really hoping I would get a chance to see him do his solo thing live. So I was overjoyed yesterday when I discovered that Lotus Plaza will be opening for The Books next month. While I'm certainly a huge fan of Bradford Cox, I think Pundt's essential contributions to the greatness that is Deerhunter cannot be overemphasized. Here [...]

I seem to be reeling off review after review lately. Whether EP or full album releases, my inbox always includes a chronological ordered list of links to another collection of wonderful tunes. Although time consuming, reviews will still form the foundation of mojophenia and ultimately giving new international artists a UK platform to shout from. Shortly or more accurately when we get our act together, an offshoot of mojophenia will go live. Mind Over Music will concentrate on individual Online promotion through a comprehensive database of the very cool and influential music sites across the Internet. [...]

![The Good Graces: Working Title [Track Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1889655_lg.jpg)
Your typical indie pop band features infectious vocal melodies and upbeat instrumentation, the combination of which is undeniably catchy hooks. "Working Title" by The Good Graces fits these pop sensibilities to a 'T' but the vocal styling gives the song a unique twist. It's all in the pronunciation of the words; it gives "Working Title" a country-ish feel that easily sets them apart from both modern and classic indie pop artists. The Good Graces are poised to release their new EP, Bring On The Tambourines , via [...]

The Good Graces: "Working Title" I did an interview with Kim once at Eskimo Kiss and she has impeccable tastes on the folk-rock/alt-country front. The Good Graces is her band and Bring on The Tambourines is the new EP. The Pinx: "Impatience" The Pinx: "Change Me" More Atlanta Rock: The Pinx . Nurses: "Technicolor" [...]

And this one goes out to Ryan Benjamin ... this guy keeps sending me good stuff for the blog, and I always missed to post anything of it. It's definitely not with ill intent; but I kept all his mails, and now I'll do a roundup of all the artists he has introduced me to during the last few weeks. Hope this will do just a slight bit of justice to his good job! First up is US singer/songwriter Charlie [...]

Feeling artsy? Then you might want to check out the video for the track "Behind The Mountain" by instrumental band Japancakes . As far as the video goes, I found the makeup and the background music to be more interesting than the Enya-esque vocals from Orenda Fink of Azure Ray (which makes sense, because they're an instrumental band?), but hey, it looks cool, and they've got a cool name, so I'm on board. [...]

An manchen Tagen braucht es halt Tambourines! [mp3:] The Good Graces / Working Title Mehr über The Good Graces erfahrt ihr bei Eskimo Kiss Records

The Good Graces will be releasing a new EP titled Bring on the Tambourines! via Eskimo Kiss Records on September 29th. Fans familiar with the group's debut release, Sunset Over Saxapahaw , will be surprised to find that songwriter Kim Ware has delivered a more upbeat offering this time around. Kim was somewhat surprised herself,"I once took a personality test that said I was 'drawn to sad things'," she explained. "And I guess I am, but at the same time I do like to try and find humor in unfortunate situations." [...]

(Photo by Leana Combs .) Here's the second of the three Kavarna sets, with The Good Graces opening the show. There was a substantial turn-out even for the first act...nice to see people getting out and supporting the local artists! This might sound like a veiled insult but it really isn't meant to. The Good Graces make the kind of music you could fall asleep to. Now I'm fully aware that it could sound like I'm implying that the work of Kim Ware is insipidly dull. But that's not what I mean. It's more that it's the kind of reflective record you'd best appreciate in the dark, late at night. Where some records are communal experiences, this strikes me as one that should be played alone, behind drawn curtains. If you haven't worked [...]

Considering Kim Ware was a drummer in past incarnations, the debut release from `The Good Graces` is skin and bone in regards to abundant percussion. Beautiful minimalist Folk with rich production and gentle chord shapes, a sound equally enjoyed at both ends of a long day. We have at times been excused of going a bit soft lately, but hey, sometimes keeping it simple really does work, there are plenty of hours in the day to rock your socks off. [...]

Rolling Stone recently released their list of the Top 100 Greatest Singers of All Time, with Aretha Franklin taking the crown at No. 1. But what makes the list really interesting is where some of the rest of the top 10 shake out, such as putting Dylan at No. 7. The Top 10, listed with the artist who provides comments: 1. Aretha Franklin by Mary J. Blige 2. Ray Charles by Billy Joel 3. Elvis Presley by Robert Plant [...]

Back to the PopFest material... This is a nice set from Kim Ware's The Good Graces . Based out of Altanta, TGG released their debut album Sunset Over Saxapahaw a few weeks ago. You can order directly via the Eskimo Kiss website . TGG are slotted to play 12/19 at Kavarna , along with Hope For Agoldensummer and Night Driving In Small Towns . And if my holiday travel plans fall into place, I might actually be there! The Good [...]

The Good Graces is the band name chosen for Eskimo Kiss Records founder Kim Ware's debut solo album. Sunset Over Saxapahaw is the name of the record from the Atlanta, GA-based Ware. Listening to the rough-edged vocals, talking about relationships and hardship, one can't help but draw comparisons between The Good Graces and the introspective and raw solo work of Throwing Muses' Kristin Hersh. Ware's voice even resembles Hersh's. The accompanying music is stripped-down and loose. The bare bones approach provides enough support to the [...]
The Good Graces We'll start off this week's 'Free Music Friday' with a two-for. The Good Graces is the solo project from Kim Ware , out of Atlanta on her own Eskimo Kiss Records . She just released her debut album, Sunset Over Saxapahaw and we're happy to share "Over It" and "Disassembled" from the release. A healthy double dose of minimalist indie rock to start the weekend. "Over It" ( download ) "Disassembled" ( download ) [...]

Ég fæ reglulega ánægjulegar sendingar í pósti. Í gær fékk ég plötu með söngkonunni Kim Ware en hljómsveit hennar, The Good Graces , var að gefa út sýna fyrstu plötu sem ber titilinn Sunset Over Saxapahaw .
