Free music has been a rising theme in the world lately - at least the one i live in. Bands have been experimenting with giving away creations in order to simply get their music out to more people. And what better time of year for this generosity than the Christmas season. i got a few leads in my inbox the other day that lead me to some free holiday downloads: Frontier Ruckus - Driving Home, Christmas Eve and a video [...]

The Gougers are a band out of the Austin/San Marcos area. Lead vocal duties are split between Jaime Wilson and Shane Walker. With voices as different as Sam Quinn and Jill Andrews , Jaime and Shane complement each other in a way that at first seems implausible. Jaime has an angelic, warbly yodel and Shane sings with a laid-back ease the likes of Gram Parsons. The duo is backed by Cody Foote on bass, John Ross Silva on drums, and most recently, Lance Smith on additional guitars. [...]

The Gougers have been featured on the lounge before , but here are a couple of songs to whet your appetite: The Gougers - It'll Get Better The Gougers - [...]

Sometimes I listen to an album and I get so pissed off I have to put down my headphones and go for a walk. Now, admittedly, I have terrible anger control issues (just ask my video game controllers), but really, how is it that there are bands out there as good as The Gougers just floating along in unsigned obscurity while crap like ( censored by the 9b.net editorial staff ) gets a mountain of cash behind every pile of shit they record? The Gougers features a pair of singer/songwriters, Shane Walker and Jamie Wilson, who take the [...]

Okay, i'm not really - i procrastinate with the best of 'em - but i'm trying to talk myself into becoming a good student. Just for like the next 2 months. Then no more school. Ever. i know it's been a while since my last post, but i've just had no time. The plan was to catch up on school work during Spring Break, but Vegas and a few days back home totally nullified any chances of that happening. This week i've got 2 (late) midterms and then there's that online class i [...]

I'm thinking this is more of what I had in mind for the previous post. Here are the songs that were replayed for days, weeks, and yes even months on my mp3 player during that bygone year of 2007. Yes, I realize that all of these songs were not released in 2o07. But to dwell on that would be to miss some of the great songs that possessed my soul at some point in 2007. Enjoy! The Hold Steady - Let's start off the list with a [...]
The Gougers are an Austin, Tx. based roots rock group. Their new record, A Long Day For The Weathervane , was just released and is available on Lone Star Music . I haven't heard the whole record but from the sound of these two songs, the solid nature of the band's music, the dual vocalists and cascading duets make it a pretty sure bet. "Everybody Knows" is not that "Everybody Knows", but it does feature the vocals of Jamie Wilson who is one of the great strengths of the band. Be sure to [...]
