Gerade heute eine Band namens The Great Depression vorzustellen, wo doch draußen die Sonne scheint (zumindest hier in Kiel) mag etwas unpassend erscheinen, aber das ist mir jetzt egal. Das US-amerikanische Duo hat sich, wie bei dem Namen nicht anders zu erwarten, der tendenziell etwas getrageneren, traurigeren Musik verschrieben, die es vielseitig und melodisch-melancholisch umsetzt - schöne, verträumte, leicht psychedelische Songs für seeeehr lange Winterabende, die aber teilweise auch durchaus Pep besitzen. Vergleiche mit Gravenhurst erscheinen mir nicht gänzlich unangebracht. Im Jahre 2001 erschien ihr Debütalbum «Unconscious Pilots» , ihre aktuelle CD «Preaching to the fire» [...]
