Whitey (aka N.J. Whitey), one of my favorite artists, was supposed to release his newest album, Canned Laughter, Vol. 2 , on September 2nd. I hopped onto his myspace page that day to find the following message: "'CANNED LAUGHTER Vol.2' delayed indefinitely due to lack of funds, press, food and rent. Canned Laughter 1 is now available free from over 100 torrent sites. Help yourself. It's possibly the last you'll hear from me." I haz a sad. I stumbled across Whitey's work over the summer and almost immediately fell in [...]

Let's face it, Norwich Art Centre is light years ahead of any similar size venues I attend for gigs. They have a knack of being one step ahead with bookings as well. Over the last six months we have been entertained by both Mumford & Sons and the Temper Trap - not bad for a 290 capacity venue. For those not in the know, this is a converted church in the city centre complete with arches and windows. Along with that, helpful and friendly staff & sympathetic security. Above all, a discerning regular crowd of music lovers. Anyway, onto the [...]

Hi Mark here from the UK. I feel it's been an exciting year musically. I have been privileged to have the inside track as Glasvegas have exploded on the scene, and interviewed Gary Numan amongst many. Most of all it's been a real pleasure to read positive feedback in comments - that means a lot believe me!!! I can't finish the year without a few thank you's so here goes......To Kip for providing me the platform, Sean for his help and support. Neil Ferris, Jon Dunn all at the Press Counsel and Zest PR for Latitude and Mighty Boosh respectively. [...]

My man Mark just covered The Great Shakes a little over a week ago for John Peel Day, but the band are already floating a new track around that's really grabbed my attention. And as Mark has taken a brief respite from Blogland, I wanted to make sure I shared it with you. Mark mentioned that the band had a very 60's retro sound, and listening to the singles actually offers me a bit of comfort over the news I broke earlier today about The Long Blondes breaking up. Not that they necessarily sound [...]

On Friday evening I was lucky enough to be invited as a guest of the BBC Introducing at Norwich Art Centre. The Introducing series championed by Huw Stephens is a breath of fresh air for new acts to get national exposure and sessions at the legendary Madia Vale Studios. On a local level, all regional stations have at least 1hr shows every week showcasing the best acts in the area. Plus, they are invaluable for gig listings, and they have been very kind when we have run shows as Rock Sellout presents in the past. This [...]
