But it was more than a dream for their final, headlining Australian show, in their hometown, before their overseas tour — to be sold out. I love it when The Griswolds come to town. Their shows are always guaranteed to be a loose time, full of heaps of dancing, shouting, impressive percussion and crowd sing-alongs. We saw them last Friday at the X&Y bar, supported by Oceanics. Oceanics were impressive. The lead singer had an awesome stage presence and his chameleon-like voice kept everyone engaged; it was very so impressive. From Casablancas, to Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, his voice was incredibly flexible and showed off his diversity. Even after catching them down at Falls Festival in Marion Bay, I was still aching and craving more Django Django. After releasing their debut EP Heart of a Lion in September last year, Sydney locals The Griswolds have launched themselves into the spotlight of Australian music. Wow, back to back Austrailian posts for me this week. 20 pts for the Aussies! I'm currently chillin fat in Anna Maria Island (aka "middle o' no where beach town, FL"). Back in February, I had come across a song called Mississippi by this unknown band called The Griswolds on Bandcamp. This was before the single officially released, and nobody knew who The Griswolds were. They were so unknown, I don't even know if the band themselves knew who The Griswolds were.
