Idle Hands gibts als Kostprobe: The Gutter Twins - Idle Hands MP3 [...]

Another Mercury music section to read while you sip your morning tea and take a gander at the new Abu Ghraib images (NSFW!) that have appeared online. Yay America! Mark Lanegan and Greg Dulli on the same stage? At the same time? Together? On purpose? Oh dear lord, this Gutter Twins thing is going to get dirty. MP3: Gutter Twins - Idle Hands Not all of the New York Dolls are kicking it in Glam Rock Heaven, a [...]

I have a bunch of pretty good, new songs in my News-Folder which I think you should listen to. Some of them would deserve a longer description, but I just don't have the time for that now. Most of this stuff is from Morten 's, Peter 1 's and Peter 2 's blogs, or of one of the other fine ones in my blogroll; so if you like something here and need more [...]

Throw Me the Statue, Grand Archives, Bon Iver, Science for Girls, and The Gutter Twins have bombarded my feedreader this past week and as such I've made an effort to grit my teeth and succumb to the hype, lest I fall behind and be unable to converse with the Pitchfork reading illuminati and DC hipsters I might encounter in the coming weeks. If you care to play along on this dreary Saturday, here are the files you will need. Grand Archives - Torn Foam Blue Couch [...]

I am quite ashamed that I am just getting this post up considering my fondness for all things Greg Dulli & Mark Lanegan, but especially for their collaborations. Lanegan has been a recording and touring member of The Twilight Singers and Dulli has contributed to Lanegan's own recordings and touring. I could write forever, but I could never come anywhere near matching the bio posted on The Gutter Twins site (see below). Every generation has their share of end-of-days doomsday prophets, but there are only a handful of artists who could aptly score the soundtrack to the [...]

Men's Vogue has an excerpt of Dean Wareham's forthcoming memoirs Black Postcards: A Rock & Roll Romance , which will be released March 13. Not surprisingly, they chose what most would consider to be the "juiciest" part of the book to reprint - Wareham very candidly detailing how Britta Phillips joined the band, the start of their relationship and the end of his first marriage (in that order). Luna fans were probably equally confused/suspicious/intrigued by it all when it went down but were too polite to inquire. [...]

What can you learn from a name? When the band name is (I'm not making this up) Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong, not much. However, when that name in question is The Gutter Twins, the new side project by alt-rcok veterans Greg Dulli (Afghan Whigs) and Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees), a lot can be learned from their chosen personas. Think about it, The Gutter Twins, you just know it's gonna be devious, dirty, and skeezy. So, it may not be a surprise when the opening notes of "Idle Hands," deliver the sleaze with a sexy boogie beat, [...]
The Gutter Twins - "Idle Hands" (Dulli + Lanegan = Amazing) Black Mountain - "Tyrants" (Pink Rebel Sabbath Club) Grand Archives - "Torn Blue Foam Couch" (ex-Band of Horses!!!!!) Ack... can't stop listening to: "Chromes On It" (p'fork mp3) by Telepathe (pronounced "telepathy") Because of this fact, I clicking around and found something else to post by Telepathe. While they are presently on Drowned In Sound Recordings , Telepathe put a little something out on The Social Registry the other year. This is what I found: "The March" (mp3) Their new album...
