Fresh off the announcement that Handsome Furs are no more , Dan Boeckner shows good reason why that (and the less recent break up of Wolf Parade) aren't such a bad thing. Enter Divine Fits, the new collaboration between Boeckner and Spoon's Britt Daniel. Throw in New Bomb Turks' Sam Brown, and it looks like Merge Records has another indie supergroup on their roster. Handsome Furs may have called it quits, but member Dan Boeckner has started a new band with the help of Britt Daniel of Spoon and Sam Brown of New Bomb Turks. Four days ago, Handsome Furs announced their breakup . But Dan Boeckner, the Wolf Parade co-leader who made up half of that duo, didn't take too long to get a new project going. Boeckner is now one of the three members of a new L.A.-based indie supergroup called Divine Fits. The debonair Spoon frontman Britt Daniel is also a part of it, as is Sam Brown, drummer for the Ohio trash-punk greats New Bomb Turks. The new band plans to release a debut album later this year on Merge , and they're working with producer Nick Launay. Right [...]

Wondering where Spoon has been? Why the Handsome Furs broke up? Here's a possible reason: Spoon's Britt Daniel, Wolf Parade and Handsome Furs' Dan Boeckner, and New Bomb Turks' Sam Brown have formed a supergroup of sorts. Under the moniker Divine Fits, the trio plan on releasing their as yet untitled debut album, produced by Nick Launay, later this year via Merge. As of now, however, those are all the details we have; in the meantime, check out the newly minted group's official site and follow them on Twitter .

Look for an album from the supergroup on MERGE RECORDS later this year. Says the press release, "The album was was produced by Nick Launay. Further details regarding the record's release date, live dates, etc. will be announced as they are confirmed." Till then, stay tuned to the Divine Fits home page and Twitter .
