The Haunted's rEVOLVEr came out in October of 2004, and the band has released two more albums since then. So, of course, it makes perfect sense that they just released a video for the rEVOLVEr track, "99." And while some fans are suggesting that the band did this to remind all the haters of their mostly-loathed Unseen* about happier [...]

The UK-based Music for Nations label put out some pretty cool indie-metal releases in the 80's and 90's and its artist roster included Metallica, Godflesh, Trouble and Warrior Soul. The label shuttered in 2004 after which many of its titles become hard to find but The End Records recently secured a deal to re-release over 50 of the label's titles. Physical copies of the first twelve titles were released on Jan. 31st. The first title that I picked up off this new stack of releases is the third release by blackened Swedish thrash band Witchery, [...]
Check out Portland based Aan's track "Haunted, Million Ways" off of their self titled 7" release. You can download this track via this link on Soundcloud…there are also several more tracks there for you to peruse and add to your collection!
ROSVO - Seasick from Rosvo on Vimeo. If I saw this crazy-looking dude running through the streets with headphones on, dancing and making weird faces, I'd probably call the cops. Or at least the insane asylum. But relax! It's just the lovable, huggable Haunted frontman Peter Dolving having fun at the expense of the unsuspecting [...]

R/D live If you've been blessed with the chance to see R/D live you know this guy packs a dramatic punch to his music. Combining emotionally responsive synths with crushing beats and large basslines in real time via his keyboard and controllers, R/D's live show makes for [...]
Click image to download track Sounds like: Turbotito, Timber Timbre "Dead Man's Bones - Lose Your Soul (Turbotito Remix)" What's so good? Any chance I get to gush about, swoon over, or listen to Ryan Gosling's exceedingly sexy voice, believe me, it's a done deal. Although it has been a good couple of years since Dead Man's Bones released their self-titled album, I have just [...]

Avatism - Live Set Nov 2011 by Avatism

Header image by Veronika Moore of Andy Halliday, Flash Bang Band I love ending up on a support act's press list because it gives me an excuse to wax lyrical over a new band rather than an old one. If you're reading this, you know who Dananananaykroyd are and why they're rad etc., but I doubt you'll have heard of Brighton locals Flash Bang Band who made sure that this final Dananananaykroyd show wasn't a cause for mourning. It's always sad to see a band decide to quit, but hearing new talent [...]
Y'know, whatever the problem is between The Haunted singer Peter Dolving and Watain, I'm gonna go with Watain. I don't know what set him off, but Dolving said Watain is overrated (read here). Okay fine, dude's got his opinion. He also seems to think Watain is corny and totally scoffs at their vibe. I get that, [...]
Just the other day I was thinking to myself, "Gee, what ever happened to Peter Dolving's MySpace blogs? Obviously MySpace isn't a thing anymore, but I can't imagine that means Dolving has any less to say." I always enjoyed reading The Haunted frontman's rants; they were funny, honest, well-articulated, and best of all got the [...]

It doesn't feel that long ago since the band played this very same venue as part of The Great Escape festival just six months before, so it was inevitable that the show tonight would feel very familiar and perhaps even bring a sense of deja vu. Wasting no time Art Brut promptly take the stage and launch into their own classic 'Formed a Band', as ever intertwined with a little of Guns n Roses 'Paradise City', as frontman Eddie Argos makes his own dedication to the singer. 'My Little Brother' is introduced as "This [...]
It seems like the only people who actually dug The Haunted's most recent album, Unseen, are me, Vince, and the members of the band themselves. And that's a bummer, 'cause while Unseen may not have been the group's heaviest effort, it still rocks, and the songs are incredibly catchy. The catchiest - and my favorite [...]

I think I first became interested in the horror genre early on. I can recall becoming fascinated with Edgar Allan Poe by 5th grade, especially "The Tell-Tale Heart." I was a fan of the books of children's author Scott Corbett and he had some scary books for young people, such as Here Lies the Body and The Red Room Riddle . At the age of 14, I became a charter subscriber to Fangoria magazine. In time, the publication focused solely on graphic violent horror movies, but in those early days, they did a [...]

First came Towns , then last week we got hooked on Spectres . If Bristol's kindling something of an obsession with confrontational guitar-led acerbity, add to this evolution Invada Records' Scarlet Rascal & The TrainWreck . Not merely signed to the label of the city's musical lynchpin, Geoff Barrow, the quartet's debut release The Haunting was also mixed and edited by the Portishead/Beak> percussionist/turntablist/soun d architect, and rumbles along with frenetic, whirring guitars reminiscent of The Horrors' stint in their Strange House atop thunderous bass clang evocative of the fuzzy lines drawn by Billy Fuller. Lyrics [...]

Click image to download track Sounds like: Glasser, Gauntlet Hair, Former Ghosts, Xiu Xiu "Zola Jesus - Seekir" What's so good? It seems like with every release, Zola Jesus gets easier and easier to digest. She's come a long way from her raucous Stridulum , and ever since making her Valusia EP, I've become more and more inclined [...]
I owe an apology to everyone for slacking last week and not having a playlist up. I'm now part of the Listen Before You Buy family doing "New Music" posts and this is my first week involved with them it's something I'm excited about. Having never cared about editing or formatting and only about getting [...]

Meszahline // Several Beings After making a name for himself by remixing and reworking various tracks, Meszahline (real name: Bram Ruiter) is here offering us his first real EP entitled Several Beings . Its four tracks manage to span a wide pool of styles but under Bram's watchful eye the whole thing feels consistent and complete. I'm assuming that he slaved over these four tracks because this EP is almost overflowing with ideas. From the ambient dreampop of the opening track "Now What" (which features haunting guest vocals [...]
