Visit Z-Trip's official site , and check out his free downloads, even as far back, as his groundbreaking Uneasy Listening collaborations. [...]

Blekh. So Madonna has been thinking of more ways to make money because we all know how much she loves that. The diva is set to debut her chain of gyms around the world named Hard Candy , after her most horrible album, for all the muscle mary's to wince in. Let's hope the screens in the gym won't play the GHV2 videos. Related Articles Madonna to Open Hard Candy Fitness Gyms Across World [...]

The Silverlake Jubilee arrives with a bang this weekend, the first-year music and arts festival bringing some 50 bands to a three-stage neighborhood fair featuring cutting-edge DJs, comedy, spoken word, film, art and fashion — not to mention three dozen or so food trucks to satiate attendees' appetites. Buzz Bands LA has joined with Jubilee organizers to co-present the indoor stage at El Cid on Saturday and Sunday night. Eastern Conference Champions — supported by Mississippi Man, Francisco the Man and Polls — headline on Saturday; Useless Keys [...]
photography by Travis Moore Since L'Keg caught on fire, we had three days to relocate a show lineup that had been in the work for months, so we decided to just change it into a house party up the street. It was a great day for friends, booze, and tunes.

The Happy Hollows' debut album "Spells" is at turns exhilarating, experimental and excruciating — as if the Pixies, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bikini Kill and Bis got together to compare anxiety attacks. Its yelpy, guitar-spiked sketches, couched every so often by unfailingly catchy shout-along choruses, are at least nervy, if not downright neurotic. It's far too good an album to have almost vanished into the ether, but that's what nearly happened: The Hollows' record deal with Nettwerk evaporated earlier this year, leaving the L.A. trio contemplating its own future before deciding, finally, to send "Spells" out into the [...]

[Birthday greetings go out to Rufus Wainwright today. Meanwhile, big doings all over SoCal tonight:] No Doubt's return to the road has been triumphant, from all the reviews, and it finally hits the band's native southern California tonight. Paramore is the main support band at the sold-out Gibson Amphitheatre, and although they don't seem to be listed on LiveNation sites, Sweden's the Sounds are first up — their new album "Crossing the Rubicon" is loads of fun. ... As we type this, Mary Monolator is probably hovering over her little antique oven -- preheated at a gentle 350° -- patiently waiting for the next batch of lovelies to come out to be lightly salted and then carefully placed with dozens of their closest friends for safe keeping. In a few nights, they will be the guest of honor at a table fit for a king. There are few nights that we take part in
What a wonderful week in Los Angeles. The two shows we helped with went so well. Thanks to all those who came out to The Scene to see four pairs of girl/boy bands play some songs. Congratulations to boxViolet on their new EP Sad Sad Girl and for playing the best show we've ever seen them do. Ask anybody who was there and they'd probably say the same thing. And our warm thanks to Looner, Odd
We're happy to be back on First Fridays at T's. There's been a last-minute change to the lineup as The Front has to cancel due to a personnel emergency. Ladies and Gents was kind enough to fill in. And The Health Club and The Dirty City Brothers round out the night. So it should be another fun-filled schmoozefest and we hope you can stop by for a few beers and a crowd surf. February 1, 2008
