Photography by Julia Davis ... HAHA! I LOVE it!!! Our little community of music freaks & geeks is joining in the old school fun! First Ari brought the DCFC heat yesterday , looks like Dorice has somethin' brewing for you, and now I get the pleasure to present a mixtape from Penguin ??? Love it!!! This time, it's a bunch of genuinely awesomely awesome oldies, but better to let Penguin describe [...]
I don't love (or like) Coldplay, but Chris Martin came off like a decent guy last night on 60 Minutes . Their songs are catchy but a little too easy and don't fire me up the way early U2 did back in the 80s. Anyway it's time to get back into the groove at Slave to Shuffle and Chris Martin inspired me to do that... BTW, didn't the duet with Jay-Z just suck donkey dick! Song: Slip Artist: Quicksand Album: Slip Comments: I remember getting the Quicksand 7 Inch [...]
The Higher Elevations sound a bit like a gang of cowboys playing psychedelic pop rock. It's pleasant stuff, just like eating baked beans around a campfire can be, but not life changing (as long as the beans aren't poisoned, this applies to the metaphor too). At times I find them a bit annoying, as if the novelty takes over and it becomes hard not to giggle at how serious and clichéd the singer can sound at places. Certain songs on the album are also a bit repetitive and I got very tired of them quickly. The highlight of the [...]

The album from which it comes, The Protestant Work Ethic , is out digitally on But is it Art? and physically on Time For Action . Breaking The News

The Higher Elevations record for one of my favorite labels, the German indie/twee label Little Teddy. It seems like they've also been picked up by But Is It Art?. The new Christmas single is released by But Is It Art? . All These Winter Nights ---------------- [...]
