The History of Apple Pie Exclusive Interview: The History of Apple Pie March 13, 2013 by Chuck Norton If you are of a certain age, the comparison of a new band to bands of a previous generation can peak your interest more than comparisons to contemporaries. This happened to be the case with me and the London-based band, The History of Apple Pie. Upon reading the first press release for the band, I noticed a few reference quotes that compared them to acts [...]

nachdem bands wie the pains of being pure at heart den shoegaze vor einiger zeit neu entfacht hatten, now, now für ihr zweites album einen krassen stilwandel zu diesem genre hin vollzogen und die begründer my bloody valentine kürzlich wieder öl ins feuer gegossen haben, gibt es nun weitere sprösslinge - und es scheint ein fruchtbarer nährboden zu sein: die londoner the history of apple pie veröffentlichen ein wohlproduziertes, weiches und lautes album, welches alle genre-elemente vereint und dabei frisch und spielwütig klingt...

We can agree to disagree, but the rainy and grey United Kingdom has produced several of the most evocative and influential bands of the past century, extending far past The Beatles and The Smiths to contemporary experimental acts. The problem, however, is that a good number of them have an irksome tendency to become insular, preferring to stay close to home. True, it’s at times more cost-effective and far easier to schedule, but that doesn't help us fans here over in the States. With that in mind, here's a list of UK acts we’d love to see in the near [...]
The History of Apple Pie’s obsession with the sweetness of life is evident from their name to their album cover and it's consistent throughout their music. Each of the ten songs on their debut album Out of View is a rocket; vibrant and unrelentingly shooting forward in blasts of impassioned guitars without even giving a single thought to stop and try something fancy, until they reach their fiery conclusions. Out of View beholds the energy of a quintet of young men and women dreaming big about their futures. It’s the kind of music [...]

Tweet Youth Lagoon, the soft voiced one man powerhouse that is Boise, Idaho's Trevor Powers has taken out the first number one spot of 2013 with the slow building hypnotic killer 'Dropla', the first single from his new record due next month Wondrous Bughouse. Before I heard a note of The History Of Apple Pie’s fine debut album Out Of View, I had a pretty good idea as to how they would sound, turns out I was right. That’s not a bad thing. They are of course another contestant in the so-called 90s indie-rock revival. It seems fitting then that their earliest shows were in support of acts like Yuck and Male Bonding as well as real-deal 90s icon Graham Coxon. The beauty of Yuck’s self-titled debut was it’s scattershot scope. Dreamy ballads like ‘Suicide Policeman’ followed feedback drenched guitar workouts like [...]

The History of Apple Pie Out of View Marshall Teller Records The English band of fuzz-popsters, know awkwardly as The History of Apple Pie, share a love of '90s power pop singles with compatriots Yuck. Members from both bands even have a side-project, Parakeet. The History of Apple Pie also have influential admirers, like guitarist, Joshua Third, of the Horrors, who not only owns the engineering credit on their debut, Out of View, but also makes an appearance on the album's closing cut. They have romantic rock stories juxtaposed [...]

Amid the accusations of borrowed nostalgia and that divisive name, what goes relatively unnoticed is just how good The History of Apple Pie are as a live act, as was proven last night in Glasgow. The London five-piece just released their debut album, Out of View , on Monday and on the back of this performance they should dismiss any fears that they're an overtly-twee bunch. Throughout the show, the band's three-pronged guitar attack gave plenty of muscle to back up the sweet harmonies of singer-guitarist Stephanie Minn and bassist Kelly Owens. [...]

last.fm And just like that, it was ours. After the years - nay, decades - of rumours, promises, lies, delays, reverbs, reverse reverbs, bankruptcies, breakdowns, break-ups, reunions, side-projects, remasters, reissues, chinchillas, and endless myth-making, at the stroke of midnight GMT Saturday night, My Bloody Valentine released m b v , the long-awaited (to put it mildly) follow-up to 19912s epochal Loveless . Available immediately as digital downloads and in a few weeks as physical CDs and LPs, it's a record that everyone believed existed - and [...]

After releasing the demo for “Tug” in late 2011, along with a series of infectious singles like “You’re So Cool” , “Mallory” , and “Do It Wrong” , the London quintet took their time to create an equally intriguing debut album. Similar to bands like Yuck and Veronica Falls , Stephanie Min and her cohorts help to revitalize the shoegaze genre back to eager ears. Since The Horrors ' Josh Hayward seemingly tailored the production of this record to [...]
