The Holy Roman Army have announced the release of their new record - less than 3 weeks away.

It's always interesting to watch the evolution of a producer particularly over the course of few years. Ronan Carroll aka Tenaka is one such case. A regular reader of this here blog, his tracks and remixes have appeared here before. His second EP entitled EPhemeral (available for your own price at Bandcamp or below) is a step up from that EP. 2011 is going to be a fantastic year for Irish music. Here are the ten albums I'm most looking forward to.

Faller Falling is a beautiful collaboration between Chris from the Holy Roman Army and Warren from Kaplin.

The Holy Roman Army are primarily Chris and Laura Coffey, a brother and sister act from Co. Carlow but tonight , their first performance in Galway, they are joined by a horn player and a drummer to flesh out their sound. They open with 'He's Not Responding', a perfect example of their dark style of electro-pop complete with sampled strings and drum machines to give the song a sense of light gothicness. The Holy Roman Army played the Hefty Horse presents show at Whelan's last night alongside Sacred Animals and We Are Losers.

Promoters Hefty Horse go from strength to strength (they've even branched out into compilations) and last night in Whelan's, for the princely sum of €5, offered 3 really promising up and comers. First up was Carlow duo the Holy Roman Army who sound immeasurably better live than they do on record. The addition of the trumpet definitely bolsters their sound and beautifully defines Laura Coffey's
