I wouldn't know what to do - The Honeydrips This is such a wonderful song. The Honeydrips is Mikael from Dorotea's post-Dorotea solo venture so of course it is great and of course i love it. It is not quite Dorotea for me - the songs are about four times as long, less political, more recognisably "good" and pleasant - but it is nice to have more out there from such a fantastic songwriter. Now that he has decided to end the Honeydrips, we [...]
While perusing through my music library the other day I realized just how many of my favorite songs from the last year included spoken word introductions, either as samples, recordings, or by the artists themselves. This prompted further exploration and after a bit more searching I was able to round up enough spoken intro songs to warrant a mix. Some ground rules: I didn't include count-ins (one, two, three, FOUR!), studio talk ("Jim, can you record the talk back?"), spoken word portions in the middle of the song ("Graveyard Girl") or songs that are entirely spoken word ("Century of Elvis"). [...]

To which we would probably reply, 'good question!' and 'thanks for asking!' Well, we've moved. Yep. We are now ex-Athens residents and current Barcelona residents. It's been a crazy few weeks... saying goodbye to all our friends, emptying a house, leaving a key behind and getting on a plane... We've been here a little over a week now and are slowly getting settled. We are now the proud owners of a new fridge, a bed, two chairs, one bicycle, five plants and two standing fans. And as of today a desk (I've been working [...]
It's always sad news when a band breaks up. But sometimes it doesn't have anything to do with drugs or personal grudges, and it's simply just the end of a creative entities' life cycle. In fact, in very rare cases, some good can even come out of it. Such is the case for Swedish electro pop act The Honeydrips. The band, the side project of Mikael Carlsson (formerly of Dorotea), released but one album, 2007's Here Comes The Future . However, according to a statement by the band's label, Sincerely Yours , Carlsson is calling it [...]

Sad news. The Honeydrips , makers of one of the greatest pop albums of the 21st century, have called it a day. I always find it really difficult to write on discovering news like this; The Honeydrips are/were such an important band to me. It's like losing an old friend - even if that old friend only released one record. Here Comes The Future opened up so many doors. Sometimes the possibilites felt endless. A true masterpiece. It's just a shame not too many people have had the pleasure of hearing it. Though I guess now is [...]

The Honeydrips - Höstvisa En riktigt fin visa på svenska. Inte riktigt lika fin som Hej då Karolin , men ändå. Allting förklaras i texten nedan. The Honeydrips is no more Sometime, somewhere, someone will pick up a record called Here comes the future by The Honeydrips. This person will not quite know what to expect. This person will listen in headphones. Not one minute into the opener "The strangest dream", this person will be stuck. Some 34 minutes later, when "In some distant future" [...]
One of Sweden's premiere electronic-pop acts releases their first full-length album in four years. With both infectious and atmospheric moments, its inconsistency issues are overshadowed by several gems.

At the end of this post you'll find a link to download the whole set via mediafire as well as a link to hypem to stream the songs. Please help us save some bandwith.) Sometimes gay dudes like to sleep a lot. OK, that's mostly just me, and it's usually unintentional how long I sleep. Like today, I had a full day planned but of course my stupid ass just slept the whole thing through because I'm fucking stupid. But you know, sometimes you just need to do that. That's usually when the best dreams happen and you can actually REMEMBER them (fyi: I never remember my dreams usually. Todays dream: My roommate took in a stray dog that peed all over everything). The masterpiece as of late used for the [...]

jj - Things will never be the same again [Stream] Here's the best kept secret in the Swedish music industry at the moment. jj turned up in March this year practically out of nowhere and stunned us with a charming debut EP, "jj n° 13. In July they returned with their brilliant debut album "jj n° 23 - and things will never been the same again... What we do know is that they hail from Gothenburg and from the excellent little Sincerly Yours label, owned by the Tough Alliance [...]

This week's mix is bursting with fresh material - from Arctic Monkeys and Air to Q-Tip, Tiny Vipers, and beyond. The Repeater track from this session is undoubtedly Lupe Fiasco's "Shining Down". For good measure I've sprinkled in some Spiritualized, which I'm strangely addicted to right now for unknown reasons. The intro music is from the oft-overlooked House Of Love, a Creation band who combusted so delightfully in the face of sudden stardom as they hung out the back of their bus, burning 100 pound notes while on tour in the UK. Lovely. That said, "Love V" is a choice [...]

Sorry if it's a bit slow here for a while, but my computer decided to break up with me. It's going in for counseling today though so hopefully it will return with it's former feelings for me intact. - Cecilia ~ The Honeydrips - "(Lack Of) Love Will Tear Us Apart" ~

Just why are there so many great Swedish bands out there? It's a question that's troubled musicologists for decades. Or perhaps it hasn't. But still, it's an incontrovertible fact that there are quite literally oodles of ridiculously talented types hailing from that particular part of Scandanavia. Take the relatively obscure Kissing Mirrors, for instance. Now, it's quite possible that I'd never even have got around to listening to this band had it not been for the fact that Kissing Mirrors is one of the many projects who blog favourite Sarah Nyberg Pergament AKA Action Biker has contributed to [...]
