He's big, he's red, his feet, apparently, stick out the bed. He's scored twenty goals in seventeen starts (and twenty substitute appearances) for England; he's taller than an especially far-fetched story about a family of giants living on the roof of a skyscraper. He is, of course, the brilliantly (sur)named Peter Crouch. Yet despite that impressive strike-rate of international goals - 20 in 17 starts! - plus the fact that he has a decent first touch, links play and holds the ball up well, is good in the air and frightens the bejesus out of his markers (to [...]

It's all go on the Hot Puppies front at the moment. Not only do the Aberystwyth five-piece have a new album, Blue Hands , coming out in late September, but band members Bec & Beth have also recorded an EP of acoustic songs, Where We're From The Birds Sing A Pretty Song , which is available to buy on 7" and as a download (from the iTunes Store) even as we I speak type. As well as one original composition, French Song , the EP contains three covers: Burt Bacharach's Anyone Who [...]
Do we need to go into all the sordid reasons we haven't been here the past week or so? Thanks. The Hot Puppies hooked me easily enough when I saw them live at the Notting Hill Arts Club last December, not least with a great song of theirs called "The King of England". I wish I could think of bass lines like that, and that bass player has a pretty cool bass to boot. The girls are also cute. But that bass is awesome! The band will be releasing a new single on May 26th called "Somewhere". Apart from CD and download, it will be released on 500 copies of 7" vinyl. "Somewhere" can be streamed from the [...]
Á ferðalagi um London í desember síðastliðnum datt ég inn á þrælfína tónleika. Þeir voru haldnir í Notting Hill Arts Club, sem ég hélt að væri einhverskonar risastór listasafn með málverkasýningum og leikhús sal. Ég labbaði hinsvegar tvisvar sinnum framhjá staðnum í lemjandi rigningu þar til búðareigandi hinu megin við götuna benti mér á staðinn. Þetta reyndist þá vera ómerkt kjallarahola, lítið stærri en íbúðin mín. Þarna komu fram The Ethiopians, sem fóru mest megnis fyrir ofan garð og neðan hjá mér, Santa Dog sem er þrælfínt band sem ég skrifa um seinna, og The Hot Puppies, sem [...]
A New Year is rung in by none other than new release Tuesday here at Stranded In Stereo. But do we really need to talk much more about the album that has infiltrated the lives of most bloggers the past few months? Radiohead finally drops that tangible version of some In Rainbows record today that you may or may not have read about or downloaded for a price in which you named yourself, somewhere between 0 and 9.99. XL dropped [...]

The Hot Puppies are definitely hot shit, quite the buzz buzz buzz. In all honesty I went back and forth when I first heard this five piece band from the UK, I wasn't sure if their style was music to my ears or not...But there is just something about their music that I can't deny... The Hot Puppies literally draw from every genre, mixing them all together with the end result being some fantastic 50's country punk rock genre of music that kicks some major ass! They of course are playing at BD Rileys/SXSW on March 15th then [...]
Hot Puppies are a 5 piece from the UK who remind me a bit of Sons and Daughters with the staccato guitar and driving drum beat. It may not be an accurate comparison, but I did enjoy them at first and second listen. Others have said zombie surf. I say I hear a little Gwen-y. If you don't enjoy Gwen, then I think you're too hip to enjoy some good pop. It's no matter, because I think you'll enjoy
The hits just keep coming. Please click on the album cover for more. The Dead 60s - Riot Radio The Fratellis - Cigarello [...]
The Hot Puppies formed in December 2000 in Aberystwyth which, just sounds like an awesome name for a city but now they are based in Cardiff. "The Girl Who Was To Beautiful" is an infectious slap of indie pop that really reminds me of Sleeper. Lets be honest who doesn't miss Louise Wener? Its perky and jumpy and a lot of fun to listen to. They are good looking bunch with fun irresistible pop songs you can miss with that combo. It confirms that the Puppies are someone to be on the look out for. By [...]
