It's quite a frustrating album because there's [...]

This is a seriously good line-up in The Grand Social in a few weeks; The Hot Sprockets, The Young Folk and Arrow in the Sky for just a fiver on a Saturday night! Wow! http://www.facebook.com/TheYou ngFolkMusic Way Down South by TheYoungFolk
Pretending to be something you're not is an old trick in pop music, so prevalent in fact that it has practically become the norm. How many bands would have got anywhere if all they sang about was what they knew? (The problem, in fact, becomes bands do make it and then start singing about what they know – ie being a rock star). The Hot Sprockets have taken the concept to its (il)logical conclusion, basing their sound of the Mississippi Delta rather than their actual home of South Dublin. That may sound like a recipe for disaster but, [...]

I went to Tower Records last evening to see Bipolar Empire put on a free instore performance. They played an excellent half hour set, which sounded great and the small crowd loved it. I was really surprised though that Tower wasn't jammed with people. How often do you get an intimate audience with up and coming bands, gratis? Not too often. So I thought I should highlight Tower's instore performance listing so more of you might be encouraged to go along and support/discover [...]
