I know this'll make me sound old, but some of this debut platter by Oakland's Impediments sounds like one of those late glitter-era/proto-punk platters (e.g., New York Dolls, Dictators) while the rest of it sounds like the class of 1977 (not that it's a bad thing per se). Greg Ashley has been twisting knobs and providing tracking inspiration for the rock and roll ingénues. Too bad we did not have tape rolling during playback- some romance was happening upstairs, whilst we pondered sequencing. Metallica- the new track posted is real nice- delicate, arena-sized classic rock- the riff so gentle- the recording and mixing - dead on Rubin. Big rock - direct from the East Bay. Nice one.
