I could spend hours going through the Old S.F. website. Some interesting ones I found were the San Francisco Civic Auditorium, Union Square, Hunters Point, and Seals Stadium, but my favorite set has to be these interior shots of the Marina Branch Library. As I would have suspected, the master typographer Erik Spiekermann , has a deluxe, modern house in Berlin. Some features include a full Bulthaup kitchen, a bookshelf that requires a hoisting harness to peruse it, and prismatic windows that allow warmth from the sun to pass through only when hit at a low angle. Some great shots from inside the home of industrial design icon Dieter Rams. It's nice to know that those museum shots of Braun products I always see are actually in use somewhere. Something about this home brings up a random memory that I can't define. Growing up I was never around homes like this, but the surrounding woods look all too familiar. If I was to pick my favorite part about this house I would have to say it would be the use of the dark vertical siding for its color palette. Architect Craig Steely has done an outstanding job renovating this high-rise loft apartment/penthouse. His inspiration came from mood of 702s space rock and ambient music artists such as Cluster, Brian Eno and Michael Rother. This is really evident in the floor to ceiling ambient light installation on one side of the main living area. The light wall displays videos that are slowed down and each pixel is paired to a 2 inch LED behind the wall. This is what creates the large 8-bit-like pattern. At first I wasn't a TRON fan, but it has definitely grown on me. After seeing this TRON Suite at the world-famous Swedish Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi, I might have to watch the movie. The designers of this suite, Ben Rousseau and Ian Douglas-Jones, utilizing ultra-low energy lights that appear to be frozen in or behind the ice—brilliant! The whole thing reminds me of a nightclub. Any architecture that is built with nature in mind, is made with concrete and has wooden interior elements, immediately gets an instant like from me. There's just something about the combination of wood, concrete and trees that I love. In this case the trees were included by law. Local construction codes of Mar Azul, Beunos Aires, Argentina actually restrict the removal of trees. Instead of relocating the house the architects, Martín Fernández de Lema and Nicolás F. This stunning Spanish monument to modernism is located in Madrid, Spain. The "Delifin & Postigo House" is the residence of fashion designer David Delfin and photographer Gorka Postigo.
