Thursday, January 12, 2012 I usually write about Austin bands, but every once in a while I highlight the music of my beloved Washington, DC. The year is not even two weeks old and DC already has its first significant album release. The city's best power trio, The Jet Age, have just put out Domestic Disturbances. This marks the third straight rock opera/concept record from the band. In 2008 they released What Did You Do During The War, Daddy?, a political album which the band describes as a [...]

More and more new music is coming out of DC lately, this time from The Jet Age which has an LP entitled "Domestic Disturbances" due in January and is now available to stream . Eric used to be in the Hurricane Lamps who were a bunch of good guys that did a lot of good shows around town back in the day. <!-- <!-- [...]

I just came across this track... never heard it before today. It's pretty dark and twisted true to Tyler's form. I like it.
You know how part of the big story about Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All was how they're DIY and offered all their music for free download? Well, that might not apply anymore soon. The crew's leader, Tyler, the Creator, tweeted that we should "Download Every OF Release At oddfuture.com Before We Take Them Down." Duly noted. This announcement likely has something to do with their group record dea l with Sony RED. Does this mean we'll hear updated versions of albums like Bastard , Earl , Voyager , and the like with some bonus [...]
![Frank Ocean [Download] "Nostalagia, Ultra" and Jet Age of Tomorrow](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3358300_lg.jpg)
While the Odd Future crew is widely known for Tyler, The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt's ('Free Earl") horrifically graphic "swag," the smaller side projects Frank Ocean and Jet Age of Tomorrow might be the real diamonds in the ruff. On Nostalagia, Ultra tracks are linked by interludes of tape deck sounds, clicking then stopping, as though Frank Ocean is recording a personal R&B mixtape for listeners. The album is strikingly stylistically diverse, at times overly indulgent in auto-tune, or creatively fusing 90s pop with dancehall or classic [...]
"Electric Sex" is the iTunes genre The Jet Age of Tomorrow assigned to their recent (New Year's Eve 2010 to be exact) release, The Journey to the 5th Echelon. This offshoot of Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them provides another unexpected and equally awesome branch in this strange family tree. Hal Williams and Matt Martian...

Silver Spring stalwarts The Jet Age have a brand new release in "Love" on the shelves later this month, and leading up to its debut, TVD chatted with Eric Tischler, the band's lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist for some thoughts on inspiration of the vinyl variety—and beyond. "I don't think I could've made in "Love" without vinyl. A collection of songs that asks you to sit down with the sleeve and pay attention? That's a relic of the vinyl age; could you have such an idea today without vinyl's example? [...]

The Jet Age , "It Could Be Brand New" One of the best bands that I had the pleasure of seeing, and getting to know, during the two years that I lived in Washington, D.C. was rock trio The Jet Age . What attracted me to the band was the fact that, put simply, it doesn't have time for trends - the band just knows how to write a great rock song, and has three incredible musicians who bring life to those songs in a way that few other bands could. And, [...]

They will be performing in DC at the Rock & Roll Hotel Friday night and Johnny Brenda's in Philly Saturday. Joining them is Springhouse . Also on board for the DC how is Julie Ocean and The Jet [...]

Squaaks The weather is slowly turning to what it should be for this time of year. A couple of festivals are going on and quite a few of shows are in the area over the next few days, so get out there and enjoy. Hampdenfest dominates Saturday afternoon in Baltimore. Running 11 AM until 7 PM, there are 3 stages of entertainment, along with plenty of food and vendors. Some of the artists performing are our friends Thrushes and Squaaks . Also check out Impossible Hair [...]

Recently I found myself outside the Sputnik in Denver staring down a double-edged challenge: one of my friends and his sister (close sibs) rode a vintage Schwinn tandem bike to the Langhorne Slim/Young Coyotes show [ nice review here ]. I've never rode a tandem anything before, and thought I'd give it a whirl. Let. Me. Tell. You . That business is not as easy as it may look. Who invented that? Why did they think it would be a good idea to make [...]

Eric Tischler has been around the D.C. indie-rock scene for some time now, having put out five albums with his previous band The Hurricane Lamps. After the break up of that project, and some shuffling through band mates, The Jet Age was formed. As it's founder, writer, and front man, Tishler had a lot to discuss about the new group and their brand new record. CoS: Who is in the band? Eric Tischler (ET): I'm Eric [...]

Another week, another Mercury music section to read while you ponder the case of the mysterious bones of Multnomah Falls . See that Constantines photo up there? Now see that clown dressed in green who is just standing there bored, arms crossed, while the rest of the crowd is losing their shit ? I hate that guy soooo much right now. What kind of soulless monster could be bored in the presence of the mighty Constantines? Green shirt dude, you show up on Monday, I will turn your bones to dust. [...]

The Jet Age remixes new Wedding Present single; launches national summer tour to promote stark and dark protest album 'What Did You Do During the War, Daddy?' While preparing for an upcoming nationwide tour to promote the latest album by The Jet Age, band leader Eric Tischler was commissioned to remix the lead track for The Wedding Present 's first ever download-only single "The Thing I Like Best About Him Is His Girlfriend" from the band's upcoming album 'El Rey' [...]
