Let's get it out of the way right now, as the founding member of De Rosa Martin John Henry is at least partly responsible for two of my favourite albums, Scottish or otherwise, of the last ten years. You can make it three albums if you count the De Rosa Appendices. With that in mind it would be quite a surprise if I didn't like The Other Half of Everything, Martin's debut solo album. There's no surprises ahead then, I do like the album. Rather a lot in fact. Yeah, ok, let's throw measured critical analysis out [...]

Out of all of the albums that have been released this year, this is the one that I have been looking forward to the most. The untimely split of De Rosa a couple of years back was a bit of a kick in the nuts for the Scottish music scene, so it's great to have Martin back making music. With the release of this debut album, 'The Other Half of Everything', Martin has picked up the baton where De Rosa left off and he's sprinted off into the distance with one of the finest albums you're likely to hear [...]
If you ever had the chance to listen to Scottish group DeRosa then you are probably just as excited as I am to hear new music from Martin John Henry , one of the group's principal songwriters before their demise. He's been working on solo stuff, and we're finally going to have a release, with The Other Half of Everything being released in the UK in October. On first listen, there' a whole lot of Malcolm Middleton , though I hate to pigeonhole the entire singer/songwriter [...]

claire cronin The Spits are one of those bands keeping the planet from collapsing in on itself from pure shame and every self-titled album they have done—which is tons—is full of feral robot punk that will get you demoted at your job if you happen to have a job. They play Friday with Bleached, Clorox Girls and more . Win tickets here or buy 'em here. This reissued interview by the legendary John Henry. You guys have been around for quite [...]
I'm a big fan of John Henry, the vocalist for Darkest Hour, and all that he adds to that band's music. (I like screaming. What can I say?) That being said, I'm also a huge fan of the other four dudes in the band, and will pretty much never complain about a chance to listen [...]

A lot of words describe LeBron James. Businessman (or business, man!) is somewhere near the top. Basketball star LeBron James is joining forces with renowned hedge-fund manager John Henry and veteran Hollywood producer Tom Werner in a deal that brings together one of the biggest stars in sports and two of the world's most renowned teams. The deal between Mr. James and Fenway Sports Group will give Mr. James a minority interest in the soccer club Liverpool, which FSG owns. FSG, which also owns the Boston Red Sox, is [...]
Before there were blogs there were these things called magazines, and the only metal magazine we still get excited about reading every month is Decibel. Here's managing editor Andrew Bonazelli... J. Bennett stopped by Decibel HQ last month; naturally, we took the opportunity to grab some adult beverages. It didn't take long for me to [...]

Darkest Hour The Human Romance Century Media 07 March 2011 by Tom Doyle Dear Thrash Hits readers, its confession time, and it's a big one... When I was growing up, I wasn't actually really into metal at all. Mine was a adolescence dominated by the likes of Greenday and Pennywise. Latterly I was introduced to [...]

Consider it a testament to Martin Dosh's electronic wizardry that his live show is somehow more impressive than his intricate, layered records. He doesn't just recreate his complex collages of looped audio; he composes something new on the fly, surrounded by banks of keyboards and samplers. Dosh's 2008 album Wolves And Wishes, his fourth solo disc, follows his familiar method of building soundscapes through a careful rearrangement of live improvisation with collaborators. Recently, much of Dosh's time has gone into his stellar musical partnership with Andrew Bird, but a new Dosh album is on the horizon, which finds him [...]

He will also be bringing guest DJ Ian Svenonius, former frontman for Nation of Ulysses and the Make-up and current frontman for Chain and the Gang. Frank Fairfield is old school. His pocket watch is set to about 100 years back in time. He's stepping indoors for a residency at the Redwood with his friend Blind Boy Paxton, who he describes as 'the face of God' on a guitar. This interview by Daiana Feuer.
Imagine The Band is a one-clearly-visible-man act consisting of many band members neither seen nor heard without the aid of the imagination. Egos Personos—singer, songwriter, choreographer, ventriloquist, motivator and presidential candidate for 2020—gave a short interview recently before he realized he was being secretly taped.
