This week, the Monday Mix was done by STINKAHBELL , the London-based dubstep duo comprised of Urban/Hip Hop producer Nutty P and MC/producer Janset. The two formed STINKAHBELL in 2008 and have received an amazing amount of support over the past couple years. Their tracks ' Something In Your Eyes ' ( Sin City Recordings ) and ' Don't Tell Mum About Ibiza ' (Terrorhythm Recordings), which were released last September and October, quickly became a staple in sets and received support from the likes of huge names such as Plastician, Skream, Benga, MistaJam, Rusko, Trolley Snatcha, Jakes, Kutz, [...]
Son Raw wrote a think-piece and killed three releases in one review. I don't like writing about music as if it were fashion. Some people may find it to be a useful parallel but reducing the meaning of music to the same base level as the endless commercial cycles clothing manufacturers use to hawk their wears fills me with dread: a good song is a good song even if it's not what some *insert Son Raw straw man hipster description* approves of come end-year list time. Nevertheless, ideas can become exhausted - while I'll forever [...]
The weekend has come and gone, and now you're deep into your weekly grind. Never fear, Wobble Wednesday is back with more of your favorite face-melting bass drops to help you make the most of your mundane lifestyle. Today I'll be guiding you along through the many variations of bass music that we see these days, new and old. I wanted to turn the Wobble Wednesday feature into more than just a section for today's dubstep, so I decided it was only right to incorporate some drum & bass as well as an oldies section into the weekly feature. [...]

Somewhere in the past few years, the usual dancefloor custom of skanky hip movements that we associate with heavy basslines has been replaced by more seizure-like body dropping that can only be compared to the more primal movements of our Cro-Magnon predecessors. In America, the general audience for electronic music has dismissed most bass music under the shadow of modern dubstep— leaving it to be appreciated by those who have kept close to the underground. It's quite a calamity to think of all the sexy swag infused bass blends that are being overlooked by the general public in our area [...]

[ Kapsize ] For a short while in 2008, Joker was one of the most hyped new artists working in dubstep. But while the Technicolor synth swirls that were his audio watermark acted as a welcome subterfuge to the more leaden, grayscale excesses of a tired dubstep scene, that early promise was not quite fulfilled. Indeed his 2011 debut album, The Vision , felt like too little too late, relying on [...]

Verb T comes right out of the blue with a brand spanking new EP, the title track featuring Sonnyjim & Joker Starr and beats handled by JJ Malone. This is yours for just three hard-earned bunters.
<p&a mp;gt;&amp ;amp;lt;p& amp;amp;gt;&am p;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;a href=" http://verbt.bandcamp.com/albu m/more-dynamite-ep-produced-by -jj-malone"&am p;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;More Dynamite EP - Produced by JJ Malone by Verb T&amp;amp; amp;amp;amp;lt;/a& amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt ;&amp;amp; lt;/p&amp; amp;gt;</p& amp;amp;gt;

Sunday 3rd June 2012 (the Jubilee Public Holiday) heralds the arrival of Benga's debut live UK show, at London's infamous Koko venue. Fresh from the buzz of a well-received first solo single ('I Will Never Change', as featured on Zane Lowe's 'Hottest Record In The World') and with plenty of material to showcase from his [...]
Joker returns and deservedly retains his crown as the king of the purple sound. His standard thick, Sega-influenced synths are backed by triumphantly rumbling drums on "Skitta". The switch up at around the 55 second mark welcomes you back into Joker 's world with oscillating synths and soon enough the purple drenched bouncing drop slaps you across your doubting face. With one of dubstep's most high-quality back catalogues ("Tron", "Play Doe", "Digidesign" and the list goes on), his debut album The Vision was sadly mediocre, but "Skitta" is over 6 minutes worth of reasons as to [...]

New joint from Zilla Rocca & Joker "Massive #93, off Rock the Dub's The Sixth Sense: I See Dub People compilation.

From Bosco 's Let Go Of Me EP, watch the dramatic video for their single Joker. BOSCO - Joker from stereogum on Vimeo .
Fews days ago Atlanta's experimental soul quintet Bosco released a new 3track EP, which is entitled Let Go Of Me . You can purchase it over at their bandcamp page but first check out their new video for " Joker ", a rude evening shot in b/w, which makes u feel really uncomfortable. Bosco - Facebook Bosco - Homepage
In stark contrast to BOSCO's last official video—the dreamy, pastel-hued escape fantasy "Pacer" —the video for new single "Joker" is an intensely dark and violent affair painted in a gritty black and white palette that's less harsh than it is bleak and a little disturbing. Brittany Bosco always delivers a unique vision to whatever project she's involved in, but this time around she wisely hands over the reins to director and editor SupaDope (who also directed the "Pacer video) who conjures a nightmarish rape-revenge storyline that's fraught with tension and emotional upheaval. Proceed with caution. [...]

BOSCO - Joker I'd be lying if I said I was skeptical of this track when it first started. I've been burned by track that have the tribal stick to drum rim, in some effort to "organic". However, I am believing again. With lead chick and Atlantic native Brittany supplying her soulful voice you are takin' on a journey on a magic carpet to Swoonville but not before flying through the woods into dark storm cloud and at the end you feel like you're cresting the most beautiful mountain range where angles rain down harmonies. [...]
Fellow Bristolians Joker and Buggsy link once again on Lost , found on the producer's LP The Vision , which also hosts the Buggsy-featuring Back In The Days .
Joker 's The Vision released last year to luke-warm critical reactions, but looking back on it I think it deserved better. After I got over my hopes for a full-length solute to the gritty bass underground and accepted the pop-leaning tracks for what they were, it's a pretty good album. Perfect example of that is "Lost" featuring frequent collaborator Buggsy and Otis Brown. Here the cut is given the video treatment from director Johnny Mourgue, and like the track itself it's got a heavy message. The Vision is out now on 4AD. Watch the video [...]
