The first day of the two-day festival (Saturday) saw crowds build to around 8,000 by the end of the long, messy day, and by Sunday afternoon, the festival sold out. In years past, ACL has distributed lottery cards to merchants throughout downtown Austin that when scratched revealed the name of artists playing the festival. The two day festival will be held in a newly completed park next to a prominent Atlanta music venue, The Masquerade . The Joy Formidable was very impressive in their set at the Nikon Warner Sound showcase at Belmont during SxSW. Ritzy is a manic powerhouse and the entire band, including drummer Matthew James Thomas by way of his frontline half open drum kit, so everything possible to connect with the crowd.
