They fit their name perfectly, their music is punchy, melodic, and uproariously joyful. I found a signed copy of the Mike Bassett: England Manager soundtrack, signed by Cerys Matthews, Jarvis Cocker, Danny from Supergrass in an Oxfam today. Checked the sigs, and they all seem genuine. Bought it for curio value, really. It's a ragbag, last gasp of Britpop compilation (featuring Justine Frischmann's last contribution to the world of music). Yesterday evening I made a short trip down to the "new" Pure Groove establishment in the Farrington region to see one of my favourite bands of the past year, The Joy Formidable play a free instore in celebration of their release, 'A Balloon Called Moaning'. While at Reading back in the summer, I didn't get much of a chance to see bands playing on the BBC Introducing stage. The Joy Formidable have finally released their debut mini album and we can all finally stop listening to "Cradle" on on-repeat as we now have 7 more tracks to obsess over. The releases were limited to 500 copies which, is a same as this going to sell out fast as this is a special record. The band manages to show a lot of their range in just the first three songs.
