The Junction , a Toronto-based three-piece (with suburban roots), released their second album last week. A great example of danceable Canadian indie pop-rock, Another Link In the Chain will appeal to indie kids as well as commercial radio stations programming for the broader music-listening audience. This is a group clearly inspired by the rock they grew up with in the 90s and indie rock bands of the 2000s. By bringing these two influences together with a nod to classic Brit-pop, the Junction has crafted a strong rock album that should appeal to indie rock fans as [...]

The Ack and I often enjoy getting up on our high horse to talk about how we like to think of the hill as being more than just simply an MP3 site - i.e. we try and give the albums we post on a true listen and then post our semi-coherent thoughts. Well, I'm afraid you'll have to bear with us over the next couple weeks as the hill will likely be full of exactly that type of post. It's can't be helped I'm afraid. The Ack, certainly the more productive half of the hill as [...]

Your friends and mine, The Junction are back with Another Link in the Chain. Now, these boys have toured the country supporting their previous two releases and built a solid fan base in Canada. I can honestly say that this new album is outstanding. I know. Bold. I think The Junction are at a point where most people who has heard of the band, pretty much think they don't need to hear this album. Well, they have smashed all preconceived notions of what The Junction is all about. They turned down the fun and turned up the balls. Every element [...]

It's been almost a week and a half since I attended the show that I'm about to tell you about. Wow, I'm slipping! Actually it's been quite the hectic and stressful week so I have a good excuse, but that doesn't mean that remembering the details is going to be any easier. Thankfully, it was the type of show that possessed such an inordinate amount of power that I don't think that I could forget it even if I tried to. It really has been a long time since I've attended a [...]

Toronto - I think most people had given up hope about clear skies this season. It's been snowing every other night for weeks. The discussion is no longer about the weather - it's about what we are doing despite it. About time, I need positive thinking. We walked in to the later half of The Paint Movement's set. It was a mix of easy-listening jazz and normal 3 piece rock, and a bongo drum, whose business there was not entirely clear other than he is a good friend who jams. I could seriously NOT hear the bongo. But the melodies [...]

Formed in 1989, Junction was a four piece post-hardcore outfit based out of Pennsylvania that played a nice variation of the DC sound. Originally starting out with core members Gregg Foreman (guitars) and Ben Azzara (drums), it would be a rotation of members and breakups before member Garret Rothman joined the group on bass. As a trio the band recorded their first single together, a split 7'' with the band Separate Peace . Not long after the single was released the band then added singer Vanessa Downing. The band would go on to [...]
