Imperial Leisure Death To The One Trick Pony Steamroller Ltd 26 March 2012 by Tom Doyle It's funny how sometimes one bands breakthrough into the relative mainstream can remind everyone of something that was always good but that has simply fallen out of fashion. The King Blues rise and rise has thrown a fresh light onto the UK's ska punk scene and kids are once again digging out their parents old Trojan Records box sets and embracing the brass. That can [...]

#30 Esben And The Witch: Violet Cries You can really get lost in the mysterious and ghostly atmosphere of Violet Cries , it is the perfect winter album. #29 Future Virgins: Western Problems A punk record with a hint of old-school garage sound... wonderfully fast and messy! #28 Kuedo: Severant This ultra mellow [...]
Here's the new video from the King Blues for 'Does Anybody Care About Us', from their 'Punk and Poetry' album that Luke reviewed for us in April. The single will be released digitally on the 12th of February 2012. If one of the YouTube commenters is to believed, it was actually snowing/sleeting the day this was filmed in Manchester. (And here I was, thinking it was just all CGI effects...) Click here to view the embedded video.
Here are a few more videos that we've enjoyed recently. First up is a welcome return for Goldheart Assembly and a song called Linnaeus that comes from their second album due out in spring next year. Also keeping it pretty mellow is Kathleen Edwards with the video for her forthcoming single, Change The Sheets . [...]

If you've been an avid follower of the site you know we holds it down for A.Dd+ round these parts. If it's your first time here, please type A.Dd+ in the search bar and familiarize yo'self. -mgmt I'm glad to see that the rest of the world is finally starting to get hip to this amazingly talented Dallas Duo. Here is their most recent interview with Say Cheese TV where they bust a quick freestyle, speak on their current stance in Dallas rap, and what they have to say to the [...]
One of my favourite albums of the year— Punk & Poetry by The King Blues —will finally be released on vinyl (extremely limited to just 200 in UK) on August 15th!!! Pre-order your copy now over at Banquet Records (they only have 12 copies left!) New song "Holiday"!

9 July, 2011 I signed up to cover 1234 Shoreditch Festival almost as soon as I arrived in London about a month ago. The fact that I had heard of only a tiny clutch of the artists playing didn't matter to me at all. I was in London now. There was stuff happening. I had to be a part of that stuff. I'm pleased to report that my unbridled enthusiasm for big-city life paid off in my favour: 1234 is a perfectly sexy little number - a lot of fun, and a lot of [...]

The King Blues' Punk & Poetry has been my favourite album of the past month. I just can't get enough of this unbelievably catchy and lyrically brilliant album. This is the best protest album I have heard in a long time. The open track, "Last Of The Dreamers" sets the album up perfectly: "...This is for the outcasts, the freaks and the schemers/This is for the last of the dreamers." What singer/writer Itch does so entertainingly well is his ability to include humour (often in a mocking fashion) to his serious subject matters—"Five Bottles Of Shampoo" [...]
Last night (this morning?) on the Radio 1 Rock Show, Reading & Leeds Festivals confirmed the line-up for the Lock Up Stage - the two days of the festival where the third biggest stage is given over to punk. And despite us often joking among ourselves that it always seems to be 20 bands picked [...]

The King Blues appearance at Soundclash was billed as an instore, but I got the feeling that it was always intended to be a performance as opposed to just a PR visit & record signing for the latest album Punk and Poetry . It was a clever and subversive way of bucking the city's performance licensing laws. With music firmly entrenched in the anti-establishment camp, The King Blues speak loudly and clearly to those with a social conscience. The 100 or so people gathered at one of the county's best independent [...]

A lot has changed since 2008 when the King Blues released their second LP, 'Save The World, Get The Girl'. The country is now ruled by a new coalition government, student fees are at the dizzying amount of £9000 a year, and next month, the whole way we vote as a country could change. These events have led to the King Blues writing the passionate, and at times angry album, 'Punk & Poetry'. Whilst the country was slowly falling apart due to new governments, bankers, MP's expenses and cuts to services, the King [...]

the THE KING BLUES covers the latest issue of KERRANG magazine, on stands tomorrow. wotyougot
If you're a fan of the underground UK punk scene, you must surely be aware of the King Blues . The politically active ska punk five-piece have been skanking, protesting and chanting their way all over the world to deliver their message of unity and solidarity. Influenced by the likes of the Clash , Public Enemy and the Specials , the King Blues have been likened to bands such as Sonic Boom Six and the Skints . Their debut album 'Under The Fog' was released [...]

With Blue (left) on the boards, and Brown on the mic, you get a hip-hop duo that deserves a top spot in the game. There's just something about Blue's versatile beats combined with Brown's flow and delivery that leaves you wanting more. Once the beat drops in "Solutions", you're gonna want to turn that volume up and bob your head to it. "Freeloaders: The Soundtrack" appeals to all listeners, whether you listen to Ratatat or get your fix on the dope beats and dope rhymes of hip-hop. "Solutions" - Sore Losers [...]
