The Who - The Real Me Die Anfänge der britischen Mod-Bewegung liegen in den späten 1950er Jahre.

Long time friends Ramadanman & Midland team up for their first release together with this EP on Aus Music . Seeking to breakdown barriers between sub bass garage sounds and house music, Ramadanman & Midland created an innovative sound with this EP. "Your Words Matter" is a testament to this innovation with a deep warbling bass line and an uplifting soulful vocal hook that is chopped up in a very soothing and uplifting way. Check out the full release HERE , on beatport. [...]

[ Ovum Recordings ] (buy vinyl tk) ( buy mp3s ) After listening to the track "Existence" from KiNK's Rachel EP for Ovum Recordings, I found myself slightly appalled. Essentially it's a rework of "Changes of Life," a 1992 cut by Jeff Mills, done as a tech-house wind up. Fitted with a new set of filters, delays, and freshly phased drum rolls, "Existence" dices up that signature piano riff to closely resemble its exemplar but remain just different enough to warrant being called its own. But it's missing the rawness [...]
Pretty cool track out in 20002, reminisiant of 90s house scene, but with a moderen twist- you can actually see some similarities with this as quite a lot of dubstep and 'oldschool... [Boe Recordings] ( buy vinyl ) (buy mp3s tk) In Islamic parlance, food that's been prepared in accordance with Sharia law is designated as halal, similar to the Jewish distinction of kosher foods. So by naming its seventh release Halal Prepared Vol.1 London-based Boe Recordings sends a strong signal regarding the level of respect it affords to house music's underground fore-bearers and traditions. Yet the three tracks on offer here from KiNK, Iron Curtis and Ladzinski are reverent rather than than obedient - clearly influenced by seminal house releases but [...]

Filed under: News , Movies Most rock music fans have an appreciation for the Kinks , but Geoff Edgers, an arts writer for the Boston Globe, has an obsession that he's been taking to the next level since 2008. In a new documentary entitled 'Do It Again,' Edgers embarks on a quest to reunite the British band and get Ray and Dave Davies , the band's famously-feuding brothers, back onstage together. "The Kinks are simply rock's great, underappreciated band," Edgers told the Arlington Advocate . "They've [...]

Using the hashtag (#) followed by "MusicMonday" you can easily find new music posted by the thousands of people making recommendations each week. Every #MusicMonday I upload a playlist of 20 songs that I've been listening to (new and old) over the [...]

Filed under: Twisted Tales In Boston Globe reporter Geoff Edgers's new documentary 'Do It Again,' celebrity Kinks fans including Sting , Zooey Deschanel and R.E.M. 's Peter Buck literally sing the praises of rock's perennially underrated band. The movie, making its hometown premier on April 24 at the Independent Film Festival Boston, follows the fanatical Edgers as he mounts a heroically cockamamie effort to reunite his favorite band. If the Kinks ever get back together, it will be like "a bad remake of 'Night [...]
How beautiful is this song? Bassist John Dalton ( pictured right ) brings the lowdown fat bottom, while Dave Davies ( pictured left ) proves for the everythingth time why he was so critical to the genius and longevity of The Kinks . He was the Carl Perkins to Ray Davies ' Johnny Cash . Great harmonies and stinging, chugging guitar. Also great is this shorter, but equally excellent video from 1977 . "Take me back to the Black Hills, that I ain't ever seen [...]

We caught up with co-found of the Get Physical label, DJ T in anticipation of his latest Fabric release, to ask a couple of questions of what exactly goes into that 'deep' record... Here's a selection of my favourite recent house tracks that could tentatively be called deep house. Each are worthy contenders for tracks of the year (except for 'Who To Call', which dropped at the tail-end of 2009). Yes, your right, the sad keyboard-bound life of the mp3 blogger is exactly as you imagined: we have nothing better to do than compile 2010 best-of lists... a whole eight months in advance... Soulphiction has fast become my favourite deep house producer. And it was his 'Who To Call' EP that cemented it: the title track works a simple piano melody [...]

Our dear cat has had a rough time of it lately. Ole fatso always was the undisputed king of the neighbourhood, but recently he lost a fight and had deep wounds to show for it. Thanks to the vet, who shot him up with multivitamins and even antibiotics, all is well again however. In tribute, here´s a phenomenal feline six pack. Featuring the Kinks at their typically British best, and a swampy contribution from good old Little Feat. "Livin' in strange dreams, taking prescribed medication..." There´s some sharp jazz by the tenor [...]
