happy new years eve! this is my own personal collection of my favorite songs of 2010. it was a tough decision to narrow down the best from out of 500 tracks, but the below addictions (in no particular order) seemed to take over my speakers for the most of this year. a collection of everything from indie rock, pop, r&b, soul, hip hop, electronica, and acoustics that made music in general feel good again. personally this year was a rollercoaster of happy emotions from moving to florida to starting a new line of jewelry to beginning new friendships to renewing [...]
Please note that this list is, again, very personal and thus very subjective. I noticed, when looking back on the finished list, that I have seen most of the artists below live this year. This probably had a huge influence on how I perceived the music. For each album in the top 10 I provided three highlights , which are my personal favourite tracks on the record. Each time I put a link to an mp3 for one of the three tracks to give you the chance to listen. I also wrote down some information and thoughts [...]

Photo courtesy I don't think every one who visits here know this but I used to hold monthly mixtapes (Hardcore Mixtapes). But, since the whole process took a lot of time (all the sorting, ranking so forth), I resorted to weekly, shorter versions of it. Now, I'm returning with my monthly mixtapes and I'm putting in the more recent tracks of January that seemed to rise above the rest. I'm planning on changing the individual files into podcasts next month until I find a suitable podcast program for non-Mac pcs like mine. [...]

The Knife has announced that they've recorded an opera soundtrack based on Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species with help from Mt. Sims and Planningtorock called Tomorrow, in a year . According to the Rabid Records website, "They extensively researched Darwin related literature and articles, with Olof attending a field recording workshop in the Amazon to find inspiration and to record sounds." Ummmm...that's awesome. Stream the album in it's entirety and grab a free download of the opening track "The Colouring of Pigeons" [...]

The Opera debuted at Copenhagen's Royal Danish Theatre, and "Colouring of Pigeons" was a portion of one of the songs. The song is as a preview of the forthcoming studio recording of the opera- out March 1- which was created in collaboration with Berlin's Planningtorock and Mt. Sims . Oh man, holy crap, do I have something for you today! Do you like The Knife? And PIGEONS???? ME TOO! Fortunately for all of us, The Knife (in collaboration with Mt. Sims and Planningtorock) wrote an opera - Tomorrow, In A Year - based on the writings of Charles Darwin (a fellow that I hear was OK, for a scientist). It premiered last September in Denmark, and has a few upcoming European performances, but most of us will have to be content for a time with the soundtrack, which comes [...]

Ok I realize that I just wrote about The Knife but I did not actually visit their site until after I published the post and was pleasantly surprised to find that they have apparently teamed up with Mt. Sims and Planningtorock to release a studio version of the opera Tomorrow, In A Year scheduled to release on March 1st. Its apparently based on Charles Darwin's work on evolution, an interesting concept but Im not too sure Im feeling it as much as I do their other stuff. I first started to listen to [...]

Well, I hope everyone had a nice holiday! Between pouring eggnog, champagne and preparing for Treble 's upcoming decade list extravaganza, my year-end lists have been on hold. Look for them to get wrapped up very soon. Until then you should feast your ears on a new eleven minute studio cut from The Knife 's Darwin-inspired "electro-opera" Tomorrow, In a Year . "Colouring of Pigeons" is an appropriately intense and epic introduction to this ambitious project that also features contributions from Mt. Sims and Planningtorock . You can view some [...]

Earlier today, the Swedish siblings that make up the Knife released a new song called "the Colouring of Pigeons," and it has already become quite a sensation. It is 11 minutes long, and many people are referring to it as an opus already. The song stems from an opera project that the Knife are doing and planning on releasing at the beginning of March. The opera is based off of Darwin's the Origin of Species and everything is supposed to reflect the grand impact and scale of Darwin's work. The Knife apparently went to [...]

Incredible how big The Knife is nowadays that just today they release a new track 'Colouring of Pigeons' off their forthcoming opera album called 'Tomorrow in a Year' to be released March 1st, 2010 and it has swamped Hype Machine ! How could you not hear about it. There's over 10 posts about it today alone and sure tons more to follow. Pretty incredible! Seems the project is a collaborative effort with Mt. Sims [...]

The Knife - Colouring Of Pigeons Last night, your dream is strange, waking up questions you and your subconscious needs. This is not the first time such a thing happen, but this is the most bizarre. Old Man and the beautiful eyes and a blond hairstyle, a white luxury apartment watching your appetite, you are to look, he changed you into beautiful female animals. and untie you as a favorite wrapped gift, it feels good compromise, mind and body, your hidden impulses. You become a powerful magic, though you feel that it is just out [...]

More important than my meeting, even if it was with the world leaders, on the summit of the mountains of Tibet, discussing a strategic plan on world peace, is the news of the new project from The Knife . It's a collaboration with Mt. Sims and Planningtorock for their experimental opera based on Charles Darwin and his book 'On The Origin Of Species'. The first studio recording 'Coloring of Pigeons' was given away on The Knife's website today and it's nothing short of amazing; un beau voyage lasting an epic eleven minutes. How [...]

We are back to the regularly scheduled program everybody, 4 songs a day. So today I woke up like usual which is one eye open reaching for my iPhone and checking email, twitter, and facebook before heading to my email and deleting the emails I just read from bed but one thing I noticed was a ton of twittering about a new song by The Knife which was a nice jolt. The song is amazing, it has a great experimental build into this well composed orchestral piece which really relies on these muted beautiful steel drum melodies and [...]
