Nicky Blitz is more of an obscure concept than just a recording artist/producer. I've known Nick Scapa, AKA, Nicky Blitz for a while and we've worked together on various music projects. I talk to him a few times a week and each time our conversation begins with me asking where in the world he is. Bouncing between LA, New York and Miami regularly - his music draws on the varied influences of those cities combining elements of indie rock, four-on-the-floor disco and electro pop. The first song off of his eventually-to-be-released EP [...]

More fantastic production from the duo The Knocks . These guys have the ability to create some tunes that will stick in your head for days. Every song I think that I have heard by them I have gone back for numerous plays. The Knocks once again deliver with the song "Sunshine." If you need a song for your summer playlist, this is perfect. It sounds like an anthem to a sweet beach party, with a nostalgic feel to it. Love this jam. Listen and download below. Via Before the Bigs [...]

Title & artist name is enough for me, but it helps that this seasonal anthem "Sunshine" from The Knocks feels more than right. For all those getting a start to the weekend now, bump it, for those who are working like myself, put it in the pocket. Download: "Sunshine" [via]

I was just about to call this a lazy day for music. It is Missy Elliot's birthday and all, but the Summer time isn't meant for hip-hop. Actually, I'm lying. Mick Boogie and DJ Jazzy Jeff are dropping their second Summertime mixtape tomorrow and I'm stoked. I don't know where I'm going with this post. Anyways, The Knocks debut this song a week ago and it's the internet rounds as one of the smoothest Summer joints. Check it out: Shoutout: MostlyJunkFood

Sunshine by The Knocks The Knocks just dropped what may be the feel-good summer anthem this year. I heard this track this morning and I haven't stopped listening to it. It makes me want to hit the pool or ride a wave-runner or something. Think: opening scene of a movie, camera panning across thousands of people livin' it up on the beach. There are surfers goin at it, beach volleyball to be had in abundance. It's a giant fucking party... something like Panama City Beach meets classy. Oh yeah, [...]
The Knocks dropped a new summertime dance party jam called "Sunshine" that's perfect for summer. It's upbeat, features some hot gospel samples, and builds up to a massive crescendo before a sick drop. I imagine this as a perfect song ... Continue reading

It definitely summertime out there, and in celebration of that, as well as being signed to A&M Octone/Interscope Records, The Knocks are giving away a free jam appropriately titled "Sunshine." The Knocks will be on tour this summer all over the states as well as in Europe supporting. Make sure to be on the lookout for the duo's full-length debut this year. enjoY! The Knocks - Sunshine

Every year, there's one song that definitively stands out as THE summer jam. Last year it was The Naked & The Famous ', "Young Blood", and two years ago it was Passion Pit 's, "Little Secrets" (coupled with...LMFAO's, "YES"). 20112s tune is still up in the air, but ATG homeboys, The Knocks , are making a serious case for their latest release, "Sunshine". The glittery track incorporates all of the pop-goodness we've come to expect from the heavy-hitting duo, including a stellar Will Smith-worthy, "ALRIGHT YA'LL", sample. If you happen to be kickin' it on [...]

The Knocks kind of have this whole summertime/party music down, more than anyone else out there. They just make the most enjoyable songs, that really anyone, regardless of how how mainstream or indie they are, can bop to. Their new song, “Sunshine” is no different. While it’s not an official single, the duo wanted to just drop a present for their fans as the summer festvities have just begun. To top it off, the video is made up of clips from the classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit? If any of you will be around the Martha’s [...]
Screw you, gray clouds in New York! You're not making this a downer of a day, IT'S FRIDAYYYYYYYY!!!!! NYC Producer-duo The Knocks released a video today of a new song called, "Sunshine". I especially love the video for its throwback to Who Framed Roger Rabbit? , which was a favorite of mine as a kid. If you're still in the office, cancel all your meetings, put the TPS reports away, hit play on this video, crank your computer speakers and start dancing around like you just don't care. Since I know [...]
Fav Tracks In honor of the first weekend of summer 2011 here's a few songs to celebrate the occasion. New(ish) tracks from Jamie xx, The Knocks, and The Cool Kids alongside indie tropical goodness of Beat Connection and Nightbox should put you in the summer spirit. Jamie xx - "Far Nearer" Beat Connection - [...]
The Knocks announced that they were releasing a new track this week, and they just let it fly via Twitter. A couple things to say about The Knocks. First off, they've mastered the party music genre. Just straight party music. It's tough for people to actually dislike their material; it's just absurdly likable music. Secondly, if you find yourself anywhere near Martha's Vineyard over July 4th, you absolutely must attend the Stars N' Stripes show that Neon Gold is putting on. Chiddy Bang and The Knocks are headlining, and it's gonna be legendary. Finally, be on the lookout on the [...]
I kind of like when it rains, certain music sounds better when there are big fat rain drops falling on your head. Also, it usually leads to playlist making and finding older songs that I've neglected for a few years. I feel like every time I stepped outside over the past two weeks I got caught in a downpour so I made a massive playlist to distract me from the fact that I was constantly wearing wet clothes. This is a small sampling of what I've been enjoying recently, I think you'll like it too. Typhoon's "Summer Home" is quite [...]

There are thousands of popular artists out there today making new singles all the time. With the increase of bedroom producers though, the ability to simply download a whole studio that you can use right on your lap has made original songs more scarce. Now it seems that your finding tens of thousands of remixes by artists with more and more ludicrous names, leaving you wondering “Transexual Viking Sword Bro- what???.” This weekly segment will bring you the popular remixes and the never heard of “Transexual Viking Sword Brothers” remixes of an (common) artist’s singles. From all these [...]

We've been running a rare series here on The Recommender named ' Remix Specials ', where we shine a light on those DJs and producers who are doing stellar work with other people's tracks. To give you an idea of how good you've got to be to earn yourself a post, we haven't done one of these specials for six months - not because of a lack of remixes, but because we're proudly picky. The last one was the mighty Yuksek , on the back of a trail of specials over the years, which included the likes of The Knocks [...]
