Ep.509 - The Kooks @ The Music Box - Hollywood, CA - 12/08/11 This show was one of those shows that I went to on chance. I didn't have the slightest clue who The Kooks were before this show, or so I thought. I had noticed that The Kooks sold-out two nights at The Music Box. I figured they had to be pretty good, but honestly put no thought into actually going. A good friend of mine (Lisa) had an extra ticket and was looking for company so I said to myself, [...]

Rumsey Playfield at Central Park Photo : Chris Becker Well folks, it's already mid-December, so that can only mean one thing, it's time for some of those Summerstage announcements to start trickling in. The first announced show of the 2012 Summerstage season is future one hit wonders, Foster The People , who are playing not one, but two nights at the Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. (Technically, this is not an official "Summerstage" show, as their season won't kick off until June 2012, but it's [...]

The last time The Kooks came to town, back in June, the band filled the Troubadour with girls screaming over Luke Pritchard. This time around, the boys played two sold out nights at The Music Box to the same screaming girls, but with some added guys in the mix. A riser was added to the front of the stage for Pritchard to run across. This was a smart move as people in the back could actually see the action. The English indie pop group was tight while Pritchard worked the crowd and constantly moved about. [...]

The Kooks graced Salt Lake City with their presence on Wednesday, November 30th, 2011. They played a well balanced 21 song set that offered a good combination of tracks from all three albums. They played 6 or 7 songs from each of their 3 albums; Inside In/Inside Out, Konk, and Junk of The Heart and also added a couple of B-sides to round things out. Overall I was well pleased for the Setlist selection and couldn't be more thrilled to here frontman Luke Pritchard's stripped down acoustic offering of 'Seaside'. The song has always been a [...]

I didn't think a midweek November crowd could be so festive at Toronto's wet blanket of a concert hall, also known as Sound Academy. Then again, it's been more than three years since the UK's The Kooks - whose frontman, Luke Pritchard, has the type of personality that can literally brighten up a room - were in town. Pritchard has got lots of reasons to flash that boyish grin that ladies the world over seem to love so much. The Kooks are in the midst of a sold-out North American tour in promotion of their easy-on-the-ears third album, [...]
