The Kooks are not afraid of you and will beat your ass tell the bouncer you have dope on you. Via ContactMusic: THE KOOKS star LUKE PRITCHARD exacted his revenge on a school bully by telling a nightclub doorman he had class A drugs on him. The NAIVE singer was shocked when the former playground tyrant recently turned up at one of his gigs and pretended to be his friend, but he used the opportunity to get his own back on the person who made his school life a misery. Pritchard says, "I was deeply [...]

...about what you think of their next album. The follow-up to the much-loved debut, Inside In/Inside Out should be out later this year. Straight from the horses' mouths: "I don't feel any pressure, we've never been looking for a formula to exploit, but we write pop songs, so there's no reason why we can't keep being successful... To be honest I don't give a fuck how the next record does because I never expected any of this - well, I do give a fuck, but it [...]

So the lineup for the 2007 Coachella festival was announced recently...and Holy Shit I love almost act on there....I puked in my mouth and then swallowed it (twice obviously) when I saw who`s gonna be there..Like the Rage Against The Machine reunion (after 7 years) or Crowded House (playing together for the 1st time since 1996) if that doesn`t blow your pubes back then maybe these guys will: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bjork, The Arcade Fire, Interpol, Willie Nelson, The Roots, Sonic Youth, The Arctic Monkeys ...all will be playing as well... [...]

Resevoir Dogs - The Bathroom Tile. If you haven't noticed, FmGT expanded during 2006 - we've added 2 new chefs: the one, the only, The Roy as well as audiophile extraordinare: Codec. The selections have expanded, allowing us to further our main goal: feeding you good tunes - so prepare to gain that holiday weight right now. --- Get Your Hands Off of My Woman [Feat. Stage school kid with his eyes full of stars Luke Pritchard has issued a public note of thanks to the Arctic Monkeys for sparing them the public eye: "God bless the Arctic Monkeys, because if it wasn't for them we wouldn't have been so shielded. We were so overshadowed by the success (of Whatever People Think I Am, That's What I'm Not) that we crept in behind everybody's back. "Arctic Monkeys shielded us from getting too much attention." Luke... does it occur to you that what spared you [...]
Via NME: "God bless the Arctic Monkeys because if it wasn't for them we wouldn't have been so shielded. We were so overshadowed by the success it (their album) because it was so monster and we crept in behind everybody's back. Arctic Monkeys shielded us from having too much attention...It's amazing. It's incredible what they've done." Sounds a little backhanded to me, no? Either way, time will

It's that time of the year - and I'm not talking about Christmas this time around! Music sites and blogs from A to Z are compiling their coveted "Best of 2006" lists for the masses of music lovers to criticize or praise. This year-end delicacy has quickly become a staple for many music sites, including this one, with the subjective lists encompassing an entire year's worth of music. While we're putting the finishing touches on a few more of our lists, one of my favorite musicians crafted a list of his own. A few weeks ago [...]

This was not easy?Feel free to leave a comment with your favorite album and selected song from that album in the comments. My other list will follow but for now here are my 2006 Album Picks: 1. [...]

Okay. It's cold and wet outside, all of the trees are dead, the electricity flickers on and off as each electrified lawn snowman gets plugged in, and did I mention that it's cold? I absolutely loathe cold weather. So instead of uploading any holiday goodies today I'm going to try and convince myself that I'm back out in California and there's 100% chance of warm sunshine and clear skies. Maybe if I put this playlist of songs on repeat for a while today I'll at least be able to ignore the miserable conditions outside of my [...]
I honestly despise "best of" end of the year posts. But I couldn't let my favorites be forgotten. And yes, if everyone else was jumping off the Brooklyn Bridge, I probably would too. Who wants to be left alone? Last year I compiled my favorite songs of the year , which I plan to do again, but I had to give props to the albums that were almost played to death for me this year. My list will be obvious to those who know me, and to those that aren't -- you will notice there is [...]
An email from Alan C brings the leaked emails from The Kooks PR campaign to our attention. That The Kooks hail from the same stage school set up as short-lived Aguilera/Strokes mashers Speedway is fairly well known, and the enthusiasm for the team charged with turning their mid-morning coffee-break toetappers into worldwide chart gold is actually almost a joy to behold, as they fire off an email seemingly every time the band so much as sell a couple of copies of their latest album. What is impressive, though, is the depth of thought that goes into [...]
Ladies and gents, for those who might possibly be concerned, "December List-Gasm 2006" will resume before the end of the week. The goal is to sporadically post lists until Christmas and not completely pile a bunch of nonsensical data on you day after day so you become buried under data that just doesn't really matter that much in the end. Then again, I also partially have a "December only" list policy because the other 11 months are so interesting we shouldn't need rankings and such to fill them out. So, on with today's regularly scheduled post. I like [...]

Here are just a few things I felt were worth mentioning THE KOOKS The Kooks are a relatively new band from Brighton, England who combine slick brit pop with a little Strokes-esque guitar filler. Their latest record Inside the Inside Out has been ripping through the UK charts and are slowly but surely earning a rep for themselves here in the states as well. They recently finished their first American tour and are set [...]
As soon as anyone suggests a get-together of more than about three people in the City of Brighton, Hove and Portslade, the Sussex Police fly into a panic warning that terrible things will happen. In a way, they're like your elderly relative - and everyone has one of these, unless Madonna has kidnapped you away from them - who tuts whenever you tell them what you're going to be doing at the weekend: "ooh... you're going to Corby? Lots of murder in Corby. And robbery. You'd better put your wallet inside your stomach, walk sideways and not look anyone in [...]

This has been around for a bit, but if you can get your hands on the Japanese import, there's a superb acoustic version of the Kooks Inside In/Inside Out , which really highlights the band at their best. Recorded in a couple of more intimate gigs at Abbey Road and in Osaka. It's not truly an acoustic version of the record - but it's an awesome collection of the band's material. The Kooks - She Moves in her Own Way (acoustic)
Gorgeous. One of the best bands to emerge in 2006 were The Kooks, perhaps an answer to Arctic Monkeys. Their sound, while loud and powerful, featured far more somber lyrics and content than Arctic Monkeys did, case in point being this track, "Naive". The story is one that we've all encountered (either by our own way, or through a friend): someone is cheating on someone else, and that sort of thing is never easy to bring up. This version that I'm providing is live [...]
