The KVB From: Southampton, United Kingdom If you believe the hysterical doom mongers the end of the world is nigh (again) and not even Indiana Jones can save us this time. Apparently an ancient Mayan chain of stationers forgot to order their 2013 calendar and therefore, obviously, a cataclysmic event will destroy the earth before the end of this year. With the world teetering on the edge of extinction it's hardly surprising that Glum Rock is undergoing a long overdue renaissance. Following [...]

Following the lead of The Horrors, bands like Toy, S.C.U.M and the under appreciated Suicide Party are creeping out of the undergrowth [...]

So while the world didn't curl up into an ever more blob-like ball and quiver until it all ended the moment 2012 struck, the industrial apocalyptica of LA duo Deathday feels dank enough to coax doomsday out from even the most atheistical of mindsets. Comprised of brothers Alex and Giovanni Guillén, vox redolent of Ariel Pink at his most apathetic are smudged over murky, if metronomic backing on the glorious No Future, half of a split 7" with UK doom mongers The KVB . Like a more mellifluous Factory Floor meddling in the ominous psych of Suicide, [...]

The thrilling cold-wave tunes of British citizen Klaus Von Barrel aka The KVB are still mildly underappreciated, though now sadly defunct techno label/artist collective Sandwell District showed some well-deserved love for his classic "Into The Night" in their latest (and last) mix that was dropped on New Year's Eve . However, for the time being we may only hope that more folks will cherish the subdued, 80s-dripping synth madness of The KVB, but in any case I'd argue that the project's new ten-track effort Always Then would be a good starting [...]

New music video from Southampton's Post-Punk/Dark-Wavers The KVB, The awesome "Closing In" is taken from the cassette "Subjection/Subordination" out on Clan Destine Records. The video is based on old footage from Pierre Clémenti 1968 silent short "La révolution n'est qu'un début. Continuons le combat". Watch | The KVB – Closing In

If you've been keeping up with London's The KVB aka Klaus Von Barrel (who I fell in love with after listening to Die Jungen) on various social media, you'll know there's a new... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]

C'est ainsi qu' Into The Night - initialement parue [...]

Amazing video and Shoegaze pearl taken from The Kvb ep "Into The Night" Watch | The KVB - Hide & Wait Into The Night by The KVB

It's Too Late Lost I wrote about Southhampton's Klaus Von Barrel last week , but that was to promote his laid back, surf sounds of his Die Jungen project. Today, we're taking a complete 180 from those sounds to look at his other project The KVB , which is modern, fuzzy, dark, electric, neopsychedelic goodness that straddles the line from The Jesus & Mary Chain to A Place to Bury Strangers. His releases are a bit scattered throughout the web, but you can find his [...]

There's something about 'old-time classic' music that makes us (/me) feel both young and old. I guess it has something to do with our ability to reference the time that has passed and it also allows us to relive those memories as if they were happening for the first time (you know, when we were all alive in the 50s and 60s?). In any case, here's a new project by Klaus Von Barrel that goes by the name of Die Jungen, which means 'the young' in German. This is very different from what we have heard from him before (see [...]

Here are a few darkwave, neo-psychedelic tracks from Britain's Klaus Von Barrel. These were released recently over at Beco DSL . I would definitely head over there and grab 'em if I were you; it's def not too late. Let's be honest here, how many times could you listen to the A-side track, It's Too late before you get sick of it? I've lost count and I'm not even close... [MP3] The KVB - It's Too [...]
